Interesting article about what is going on in Syria
« on: August 31, 2013, 10:31:02 PM »
This seems to be a good article about Syria. It seems to be a lose-lose situation...
it seems like there has always been some inner conflict, between Assad/Alawites vs Muslim Brotherhood, this was back in 1982

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/08/29/9-questions-about-syria-you-were-too-embarrassed-to-ask/
Russia, has a huge interest in Syria
It has a naval base there, and it trades military parts with them.
It seems like Al-Quaeda/Jihadists, want a piece of the action..
I hope Obama keeps America and our troops OUT OF IT!!!

I'm not an expert on international situations but I also would of liked us to stay away from Syria.

The problem is our President promised action and our nation will look like indecisive cowards to the rest of the world if we don't do anything.

The Middle East is laughing at us right now. President Obama has given Syria plenty of time to move their targets out of harms way. It's now a hot mess.

I am not either.  It just seems to me, that if we go ahead , do airstrikes, or what have you., We will seriously antagonize  the Russian bear.
Another thing is too,so while these Mideast countries are like bee stings of greed and killings, they are now involving two superpowers against each other. Al Quaeda will sit back, strengthen their base , and when all is said and done, they will swoop down , like the vultures they are, and finish the rest off...

They keep showing all the hurt and dead children on television. If the President is so worried about the kids and the chemical weapons why is he drawing this out? Even if Congress votes no, Obama says he will still order an air strike.

Krauthammer Says Obama has Boxed Himself Into a Corner

Quote
But the idea that you make the case, you leak the details, you tell the world that this has to be done, and then you say,' well, I'll take my time and go to Congress and we'll see.' This should be done in three days. It isn't as if people aren't aware of the arguments. He should go out there and bring them in, have it done by the end of the week, and the world, I think, will have a little higher respect. This looks as if if you are a cynic, meaning if you're sitting in Syria, or in Iran, or in Moscow, it looks like a president who boxed himself into a corner and is looking for a way out.

Sometimes it's better to just suck up the bitchslap in the short term rather than allowing your alligator mouth and pride pull you into even deeper problems.  Sure, they'll think Obama's a *****, but they also know that with our sometimes-fickle elections, unlike their leaders-for-life, the wind can be blowing in another direction entirely four years from now.

Sucking up the bitchslap is something the boy-king cannot easily do, if he can do it at all. His narcissism, ego, and sense of entitlement keep him from exploring the more strategic and tactical options that more seasoned and experience leaders would explore before prattling off at the mouth.

The only thing I can see that would be of any use to us, would be to attack Iran's Republican Guard protecting Assad.  Of course if they responded, the smartest man in the world would turn tail and run.

There's an old Army saying to the effect that "Arguing with an infantryman is like wrestling with a pig:  You both get dirty and the pig loves it."  Obama needs to take that to heart, substituting "Islamist" for "Infantryman" and "Attacking" for "Arguing."

I can think of several words that fit " ***** ".....and ain't none of them good.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
