I like the penny donations.  Especially when you consider that it costs them more in processing fees than what they'll ever get.

Money to Help me Pay my Bills Until November

For the last 3 years I was living with my 89 year old Father and taking care of him 24/7 because he had Alzheimers and Dementia. Then he got sick and passed away on May 14th, so now I am in his home all alone paying the house payment, truck, gas & lights, and the Cable/Phone/Internet bills.

I filed for SSI in December of 2012 and it was denied in June, so I am going through the appeal process. And the law firm working on my case tells me I should have a ruling by November. So I need to raise about $2.000.00 by November 10th, to pay my bills of $1.000.00 a month.

I am unemployed with a bad back from back surgery, and other medical problems, so even if I could work it will be almost impossible for me to find a job under my restrictions. For now, I just need to make it to November, and then hopefully SSI will approve my appeal.

His father was 89 and had a mortgage? And he had no estate, nothing?  ::)

Wishadont has been getting a workout as of late - which is really surprising considering the glorious Oconomy.

Maybe this primitive needs to take a field trip to the Federal Obama Fulfillment Center and Unicorn Petting Zoo, and then he'll feel all better as the unicorns make his boo-boos magically disappear.

Maybe the leech drank all his Dad's money at the local watering hole. Even if you aren't in the habit of buying the house a round, a daily bar bill can run into serious money.

His father was 89 and had a deadbeat, freeloading son leeching the life's blood out of him. You'd be in financial dire straits too, in those circumstances.

He has plenty of "ick" already, Karin.

Are you sure that is him? I clicked on several of the youtube links and I don't think that is Steve. I think that guy is Fred Johns and he was trying to interview Steve.

2. Welcome to DU, OccupyOregon. Your post is ambiguous...

as though you meant to be sarcastic?

Certainly you don't think getting a job at a McDonald's would solve the OP's plight, do you?

Seemed very odd.

Get a job?  That's just crazy talk.  Must've been sarcasm.

15. I can respect that.

I just found the post to be offensive on it's face. The poster had been here for almost 2 years and just started posting within the last 90 days based on their profile. I broke it down to it's simplest point, in which the poster was telling the OP to "get a job" instead of coming to the Community for help.

I don't use the alert function very often, but in this case it was almost an immediate reaction for me. I guess I've become cynical in my views lately.

If his back is as bad as he claims he should have no problem getting SSI, but it might take more then two months, sometimes the claims process is really long.

He took care of his dad, feeding, bathing and dressing him.  I guess you could do that with a bad back, but......... :???:

According to this post, this bum hasn't held a job since 1995. So he quit the workforce in his early 30's to sponge off his poor father:

Quote
I signed up with wishadoo and uploaded a photo of my Father, so with that and a few donations I got here hopefully I can raise the money I need. Right now I am still about $800.00 short.

And btw, I also worked a full time job at International Paper Company for 17 years from 1978 until 1995, working 6 days a week, sometimes 12 hours a day, until I hurt my back and had to have surgery. Then they closed the union plant and sent all our work to non-union scabs in Bowling Green Kentucky.

So I paid a lot of money in for 17 years, and now when I need that money they denied me. I have a small pension that I can start collecting on in 2 years, but it's only $385.00 a month, and I can only get 20% of that in March of 2015, if I make it that long.

I can not get my social security until I am 67, so that is 14 years from now, and at this point I doubt I will make it that long, so I will most likely never see a dime of that money.

Dude is 53 years old and has only spent 17 years total in the workforce? No wonder his poor dad didn't have an estate or money, this bum must have taken it all.

You have to be 67 to collect Social Security?

He must be pretty frugal guy, though, if he's 53 and just eight hundred bucks will tide him over until Social Security kicks in and puts him on easy street.

He should have followed the Bennyboy formula and smothered the old man years ago.
