Woman rescued after getting trapped in deckchair

An elderly sunbather was rescued by firefighters after she was trapped in a deckchair for a whole day.

By Agencies11:11AM BST 16 Jul 2013

The woman was sunbathing in her garden when the fabric of the seat suddenly gave way and her bottom became stuck in the frame.

She was unable to wriggle free or reach a phone to call for help and spent most of Monday - one of the hottest days of the year - trapped in the broken chair.

Things always work out in the end.

She bottomed out
Illinois, south of the gun controllers in Chi town

My first job was at the amusement park here.  There was always an urban legend floating around of some fat woman getting stuck in one of the rides and unable to get out.

I think I heard that one at least once every summer.

While I'm no toothpick anymore, I'm not that fat, either.

Yet at some of the D-land rides Scoobs and I did with the family, I felt like I was wedged in and my knees (and other parts) were screaming in protest when I tried to get out.

Ask her about Space Mountain if you don't believe me.

And to be fair, the woman in question was in her 80's, so there's that too.

Poor lady.  It's good a neighbor came by or her goose would have been cooked.  She better get one of those personal alarm things you wear.

Not only the elderly that get into predicament's.

What was it, perhaps 73 or so I dated a very large man that drove a Z car----the one with the open glove box.    We had gone to Golden Gate Park in SF for a pick nick and as the sun went down he the Navy Wrestler 200+ pounds of Mussel reached  across the seat to kiss me.

Unfortunately I weighed about 100 pounds and as unexpected as this was  thrown head first into the glove box.  My head was stuck in the box and as his weight was so strong I was into the box and bleeding.  He could not forcefully pull me out as somehow one of my ears got trapped inside.

We finally went to the fire station for help, Now I know Fire fighters have a hell on wheels job but they also have a sense of humor. It took them 30 minutes to get me free using WD-40 on my head and it seems that my showing up made their day.

Oh so long ago, today I can look back on the trials and tribulations that at the time was a disaster and now remember those times with a smile-------Those were the days .

I agree about her age, I feel bad for the poor lady.

The lady, in her 80s, was only rescued when a neighbour came by to water her plants at 9pm and raised the alarm.
