Police are reaching out to the public for help in locating two women wanted for allegedly torturing the young son of one of the pair.
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's juvenile division announced Friday that they were searching for Starkeisha Brown, 24, and her live-in girlfriend, Krystal Matthews, 19.
Police said the women routinely subjected Brown's 5-year-old son to "unbearable physical and psychological abuse," beating him, burning him and not letting him eat or drink.
At a press conference Friday, LAPD Deputy Chief Jim McDonald said the boy had cigarette burns on his body, urinated on himself and was forced to place his hands on a hot stove. McDonald said the boy cannot now open his hands.

12. Lots of self-loathing and hopelessness there ...
... all taken out on the most helpless.
Got no answers ... but prayers for the boy, may he find love and mercy.
which gets slapped down quickly

16. Self Loathing???
Why because they are black?
Because they are Lesbians?
Because their mothers named them Starkeisha and Krystal?
**** them? Why are they hopeless. They look like healthy young woman who decided to take a path or drugs and violence.
Well guess what. That path leads to a world of suck. And boo hoo that must be why they beat the little boy.
**** them. They had every opportunity in life and instead they torture the one person who loved them unconditionally.
They are hopeless all right but not in the way you meant.

24. Normally I would give it a pass.... I have no doubt these are broken people
Their actions speak to that. But why they are broken is unknown. They could be spoiled little rich girls with no sense of morality.
But the poster was responding to the thread showing the perps as young African American woman. There was no other new information in post 8 (Though most astute Du'ers probably figured it out by the names)
It struck me as excusing the crime because they were African American lesbians (poor seems implied as well though certainly not proven).... It must be societies fault and all that and we need to show sympathy and give a pass.
One or both might have be psychopathic assholes. Without a sense of self let alone self loathing.
Sorry I don't judge people by their ethnicity and that goes both ways.
Then of course ...

18. think of all of the children in Iraq & Afghanistan
They've been tortured too. Many have no parents at all. Who is to say that these women have hurt this little boy any more than what we, the USA have inflicted upon others, Iraq and Afghanistan for starters.
I agree, they deserve no chance for parole at best. Put them in the slammer with the likes of Charles Mason, et al. for all I care.

19. I'm with you 100%!
That's why I said ANYONE who tortures others.
I won't argue the fine points of torture of a specific individual versus the torture and horror inflicted upon the innocent during wars.
That's why Bushco deserve to be tried for their crimes against humanity, and if found guilty, let them pay the same price as the Nazis who were found guilty at Nuremberg.

25. There have been two cases of horrific child abuse leading to death in my local paper.
In case anyone was wondering, those two cases - both of which resulted in the death of the children who had been systematically tortured - involved white, heterosexual couples.
Child abuse, torture, and murder of children is not a problem of any one group - it is a human problem, worldwide. It seems to be getting worse and more frequent in the U.S. I'd guess it has something to do with any or all of the following variables - culture of death arising from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, lack of access to mental health care, and the free-fall of the economy. More and more people are getting desperate, and when some people get desperate, they do really horrible things.
linkIt doesn't take too long to blame Bush.
