Saturday 6/14
« on: June 14, 2008, 09:13:11 AM »
Wow this week went by fast!  This time last Saturday I was at the coast greeting some of America's finest.

Today I'm heading out to visit the kids (son, DIL, grandson & little Evie) and spend the night.  DIL is all excited about her new sofa and love seat and wants to show it off.  I'm just thankful it's not another sectional that swallows up the whole room!  Hope it's comfy, 'cause that's where I'll be sleeping tonight!

After I talked to my son the other night, the phone rang again.  It was my grandson, Titus.  First thing he says when I answered was, "I miss you", using his most pitiful voice!  Little rascal has me twisted around his finger!  I told him I would be down Saturday and that I had "prizes" for he and his sister.  Boy that perked him up!  My son was on the other line listening, so once Titus and I ended our conversation, son told me that Titus was about to have a "melt down" because he didn't get to talk to me!

To all the father's and grandfather's out there, I wish you all a Happy Father's Day early.

TOTD:  What are y'all doing for the weekend / Father's Day?

Survived Friday....1st of 3 recitals last night...IDC warm-up at 5 at one location, then call for performaers at 6:300 at another location.  Show ended around 10:40, then we went out for the "cast" party (company dancers) at Buffalo Wildwings.  Got home about 1.  Get to do it again today (same times) and tomorrow (a matinee at 2).

Tonight and tomorrow will be a bit different, they are doing the ballet Sleeping Beauty, in addtition to either an irish dance program (tonight) or tap/jazz program (tomorrow).   I make my stage  debut this eveing, too!  I play a tree in Act III of the ballet....LOL.

Not doing much for Father's day...breakfast in bed type stuff, but we have to be at the auditiorium at noon for the show, and we won't be done untill probably 5.  Maybe dinner out after that?

I'll try to post some dance pics for those who may be interested next week.

This week I am *finally* going to get Corporate Housing -- Marriott ExecuStay so I continue to get my points and status (point of reference: I have 70 nights this year).  I am stuck out in Midloathian, VA -- a semi-industrial area sw of Richmond.  It was a freaking 30-45 minute commute each way every day from the downtown that was getting to me.  Remember, I have a 20 hour or so commute just getting to and from Richmond so it isn't whining. I usually can get a few miles from the client site and that helps make up for the weekly commute.

Finally, no more packing up every Wednesday night! And a 2 or 3 minute commute to work!

TOTD: Same as I do every Sunday -- fly back to Richmond.  No kids and the cat passed away so there is nothing to "celebrate." My dad is long dead and mt FIL celebrates Father's Day in Mexico, which is a different date.

Nothing planned.  Wife working.  Me babysitting all day and night.  I'll be worn out and it will be a crappy day.

I had a super busy week at work and I'm glad that it's the weekend.

My general plans include some various cleaning and moving some stuff into my storage room.

My dad had surgery yesterday to remove his gall bladder.  He's been in the hospital since Wednesday.  He had to wait for his pancreas to settle down before they could go in and remove it.  Yesterday they did that, and he's doing fine.  He has a gall stone that's blocking the entrance to the pancreas, so today another doctor is coming in and putting the tube thingy down his throat to get that one.  He'll be going home Sunday or Monday.

For Father's day I was going to take him and his wife to dinner tonight.  There's a catfish place that he really likes, but it's not open on Sundays.  So, now we'll be doing that later this month.

We will take hubby out to eat and to a movie. I'll call my dad and brother and chat with them since they are out of state. I sent them cards/gifts earlier this week.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Thanks Undies.  My dad is in good spirits already.  I had told him Thursday "if you think you're going to die, let me know and I'll leave work" and he laughed.  :)  He'll be up and about in a few days.  It was done with the scope, so he said he's only got 4 little incisions.

Mia, praying for your dad's quick recovery!

90 outside at 10:45 AM....low humidity, and that makes every day perfect!

TOTD: Laundry

My father was killed on 3/22/07 in an accident, so no plans of formal celebration, although I celebrate and give thanks for his life on earth daily...June 12th he would of been 68....I miss you dad.
