After Syria chemical allegations, Obama considering limited military strike
http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/kerry-obama-determined-to-hold-syria-accountable-for-using-chemical-weapons/2013/08/26/599450c2-0e70-11e3-8cdd-bcdc09410972_story.html?hpid=z1

Quote
President Obama is weighing a military strike against Syria that would be of limited scope and duration, designed to serve as punishment for Syria’s use of chemical weapons and as a deterrent, while keeping the United States out of deeper involvement in that country’s civil war, according to senior administration officials.

The timing of such an attack, which would probably last no more than two days and involve sea-launched cruise missiles — or, possibly, long-range bombers — striking military targets not directly related to Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal, would be dependent on three factors: completion of an intelligence report assessing Syrian government culpability in last week’s alleged chemical attack; ongoing consultation with allies and Congress; and determination of a justification under international law.

Not too sure if America should get involved in Syria.

Barry has once again placed both feet firmly in mouth and pompously threatened force against Assad.

He has two choices. Make good on his threats and use force, or do nothing. If he does nothing, he has zero credibility. (He has very little street cred anyway, but I digress...)

If Zero does nothing, then Iran knows that they have a free path to continue developing nuclear weapons.

BTW,  what is happening in iran and North Korea?  Is there a media blackout on those two countries?

I'm sure Iran is helping in this proxy-war to keep the attention off of themselves.

Maybe Obama's best bet would be to take out the Iranian Guard and Hezbollah that are in Syria and helping them.

If we are going to lob missiles, we need to do it for our own benefit.

Iran knows they have a free path to continue developing nukes anyway. The Empty Suit in the White House has assured Iran that the US will not stand in their way.

As to what kind of media blackout there might be is a damned good question. The media -- those that actually have the balls to report it -- are focusing on black on white assaults/murders -- not to suggest that the few examples that we've seen of late aren't the result of despicable thugs who need their gonads cut off. Maybe as eunuchs they'll be a little friendlier to 99-year-old women.

The only way Barry can establish any kind of credibility is to unilaterally -- and that means **** the U.N. -- attack the hell out of chemical weapons sites. Syria has a boatload of that crap.

But if all he's going to do is pull a Clenis and lob a few cruise missiles over the fence, it's business as usual for the Assad regime.

Assad knows that in order to stay in power, he must destroy the opposition. And that's precisely what he's attempting. He will not stop to parlay, stroke the U.N., or give Barry a hum job.

The last time we did this bullshit with some 70 cruise missiles, Clinton managed to miss everything important and draw a devastating attack on the homeland that led us into two protracted wars which accomplished basically nothing positive net-net, except to bump off a couple of really bad actors, in a sea of bad actors who were dying to replace them.  What could possibly go wrong this time?

Well Iran and Syria both said that Israel will be attacked if we do.

On another note 70 cruise missiles are cheaper than a Obama vacation.

General Jack Keane on FOX News said the only real thing the US could do of any significance is destroy Syria's six airports which would hamper supplies and other things from getting in from Iran and Russia.

If anything, the threats to Israel give Obama more personal reasons for attacking Syria.

Excellent point, I hadn't looked at it from quite that angle.

True 'nuf, but there's nothing stopping Barry from exhaustively climbing on board AF1 headed toward another vacation because of the exertion required to sign an attack order.

There's so much involved and so much pressure. He's feeling in need for another well-earned vacation.  :whatever:

Anything he does now will cause the USA further embarrassment, and the world nations to respect us even less - if that's possible. The time has long passed to take any action, except for political points and to further his goal of destroying this once proud nation.

So McCain and his boyfriend are going to the WH to decide what to do about Syria...I didn't realize either one of them were the Senate Majority Leader or the Speaker of the House.  He wants them to go convince all those "whacko birds" to get in line and support al Qaeda against Assad.

Meanwhile we have this little gem from 2009:

Didn't Kerry just compare the other guy at that table to Hitler and Saddam?

I think we're about to see the first true bipartisan vote in the house and senate since 9/11...and it's not going to go the way the administration wants it to

McCain and Graham want to take Assad out.  I personally think that is a mistake, seeing how Libya and Egypt have turned out.

I have serious doubts about this. McLame and the Fudgepacker seem to be on the prevailing side of late and I honestly believe once the faux patriots of Barry's Oministration all line up and start faux saluting the flag, compelling all of Congress to line up behind the O So Fearless Leader, teh Wun, well, those chumps are going to fall all over themselves pushing the faux "Bomb Them" button.

Nary a thought for consequences, nary a thought for fallout, nary a thought for much of anything including our own national security and interests.

Barry and his thugs, including McLame and the Fudgepacker, do a masterful job of inserting emotion into their decisionmaking. I see this happening yet again.

Possibly...but there's also the the very real possibility their bullying strong arm tactics re: Immigration have used up any good will the Same Sex Senators could have used to get votes to back Obama.  Especially those facing re-election in roughly 12 months.

Yeah, I get that -- but Americans have very, very short memories and while the current mood of the country is, "WTF? Bomb Syria? What for?", that's the kind of prompting that the McLames and the Fudgepacker and the rest of the spearchuckers will use in lining up behind Teh Wun.
