PHOENIX -- Richard and Peggy Sue Garcia are enjoying retired life. They spend their free time watching high-profile murder cases unfold, not just on television but inside actual courtrooms.

"We enjoy going to courts all over the United States, which is one of our hobbies," Richard Garcia said.

Like many people, they're also fascinated with Jodi Arias' death penalty trial. Arias is accused of killing boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2008.

"You get bits and pieces in the news and in the papers. You get the whole thing in court," Richard said.

On Tuesday, the couple showed up for day one of Arias' defense, but no seats were open.

"It's kind of disappointing for me because we've been coming every day," Peggy Sue said.

A shock, as the Garcias haven't had a problem getting seats in the past.

"We had to wait in the hallway until there was some room and there is no room," Richard said. "There are a lot more family members that came in and they're taking the pews."

"Pews"??????? It's not a church, you idiot.

No you don't.  You get to see what each side wants to put on that is also admissible evidence.  That's a very long way from the whole story.

Not surprised, this is the American way to prevent miscarriage of justice.   When the State  has the power of life or death on a person and the trial is held out in the open, TV radio and in court spectators , both the defence and prosecution and Judge has to follow the letter of the law. No hankie pankie as this is open for the world to see.

No behind closed doors as other country's do,  we the People have every right to watch in and out guess the Jury. We the People have the right to keep courts open, insure Justice is done on either side.

On reason why Courts, Peoples Courts are so popular on TV.  Darn but I have found out things I did not know about  every thing from renters rights to the Scams not to fall into.

We had a Judge here that was called the sleeping judge as she often fell asleep on the bench---Had TV recorders and reporters been in the room she would have been alert.

I have been watching this trial on TV and must say this the case this woman has got to take the stand to tell why
she pleas self defence , --------- She walks in on him naked taking a shower with a video camera.  Procedes to stab him 20+ times, somehow the male manages to run down a hall bleeding all over the walls. He Falls down and this 250 pound man is dragged back into the bathroom by a 100 pound woman and then shot in the head.

Most interesting, wonder if this will go the OJ or Casey case went ????  Will the jury find her innocent and then the jury goes into hiding ????

I found this out after a trial I was on (juror) a few years ago. My wife decided to sit in the court a few times, and would go out on the breaks. She happened to be near the plaintiff while her Lawyer was talking to her caretakers and over heard some of their conversations.

AFTER the end of the trial, my wife told me what she over heard........while it would not have effected our decision.. it sure put a new light on the behavior of the plaintiff. Ya, we NEVER heard about it.

I object, your honor, on the grounds that the witness is about to tell the truth.
