In 2001 I bought a Saturn SC2 and it is the best car I ever bought.  200K miles on it, reliable an it still gets spectacular mileage.

In 2007 I bought a Saturn VUE.  It's a complete POS.  My MG was more reliable than that turd.  GM took a really good car company and totally destroyed it.

It was a GM facility from day one. Brainchild of Roger Smith.

That's what I though, because my best friends family got discounts from GM and came home with a Saturn from Ohio in the mid 90's because of the discount.

If nutcase nadin could pay cash for a new Jeep, she wouldn't be living in that crappy little condo, hard up against a roaring San Diego expressway.

She should check with Pam Dawson. Now that Pam's dying, she'd probably give a good price on that like-new 2010 Jeep she brags about.

Well if she bought a GovMtr car made since 2006 she is in for lots of problems. The later the manufacture date the more the problems.

The Chevy Cruze's were having a lot of problems for awhile and they are pretty new.  I think the first year made was 2011 or 2012.  Can't remember.  My husband works on cars all day long and he says those things were junk.  He said the Chevy Sonic was nicer than the Chevy Cruze, which says a lot since the Sonic is replacing the Aveo.

I know there are probably some American car lovers on her.  But I love my German engineered BMW.  I have had 3 of them and wouldn't drive anything else.  Next to that I have also loved my Toyota 4-Runners, of which I have had two.

I had an '01 4Runner. It was dependable, of course, like any new vehicle. But it was very underpowered, and the luggage rack stirred up some extreme wind noise. I heard they've since increased engine horsepower.

I bought an '02 Saturn SL sedan and put 138,100 miles on it.  It was still getting into the low-to-mid 30s on fuel mileage when I got rid of it last summer.  I now drive an '09 Toyota RAV4 and I love it--except the fuel mileage.  Low-to-mid 20s now.

Hmmm...the only man I've ever seen squeamish with shaking a females hand is a Muslim man. That's a cultural thing largely and I'd bet it's one of his 'pet' cultures that denied his daughter a handshake, likely because he thought her advances 'dirty' in his culture to be forward. So much for all that feminism in that quaint ole brown peoples cultures. :lmao:

Anyway, I think this was all a load of shit bouncy so he could prop up the UAW. Notice how both of the other dealerships were for FOREIGN cars.  ::)

This is very funny to me. I have NEVER walked out of dealership without buying a car. Every time I tried walking out they would stop me before I reached the door with a "better price", until I agreed.

One time a few years ago my wife wanted to get a car and I could not be with her for some reason. We came to a price we thought fair before she went. They would not agree, so she called me and I told her to walk out and she would not reach her car before they agreed. Actually she never made it to the door.  :-)

Well, I see in the news a guy was sleeping at the bottom of an elevator shaft, and when the elevator came down, it killed him.

I was hoping it was in northern New Jersey, but it wasn't.

Do elevators ever crush someone in northern New Jersey?  Often?

It's all a matter of personal choice.  I happen to like Chevrolet and Ford.  I wouldn't buy a new Chevrolet if my life depended on it, which is why the dealer probably cussed me when I drove my "new" 07 dualie off the lot in 2010.  I also have a 99XJR that I use to embarass the kids in their hopped up ricers (Jaguar XJ series makes a great mid life crisis sedan).   :-)

I would love to get my hands on a supercharged 7 series.  I imagine I could have a boatload of fun with one of those...

Well you would either want to go retro and get a 1997 750i-iL  5.4 Liter V12, had one and those are fun.

If you want to spend about $100,000 I would suggest the new 750Li 4.4-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo V-8, 32-valve 445-hp engine. Combines two turbochargers with variable valve control (Double-VANOS and Valvetronic) and high-precision direct injection.  8-speed tranny.  Man that makes me tingle in places I shouldn't.

I looked at an older 7-series with the V8.  I mentioned this before, but there wasn't enough room in that engine compartment to squeeze in a fart.  I could barely fit my fingers down in some places.

Nope, no thanks.

Seriously considered a Porsche 944 Turbo there for a while as a 'weekend' car. Stuck with a Buick Rendezvous for now, I don't like it but it's paid for and I will drive it until the wheels fall off.

I hate shopping for cars/rucks.

Last time I had a bad experience I was in a hurry. Whipped into a Ford dealership and told the heavily loaded down with gold jewelry wearing salesman(always a bad sign) I wanted that red diesel FORD F-350 4-door dually. Told him I wanted the very best price he had, tags, taxes, everything and no trade in, one price. Told him I'd be back in about an hour and if the price was right I'd write them a check for it and drive it home. When I came back by he had the price, it was a good one, told him I'd take it. When we got in the office the price changed, dealer prep so much, origination fee so much, extended warranty, tags so much, taxes so much, blah, blah, blah. I reminded him that I had said that I wanted a price, just one price for tags, taxes everything....oh, he tells these other cost are normal and in addition to the quoted price......I walked out. I'm glad he thought I was a fool, it saved me 40 thousand because after that I decided I really didn't need another truck. :-)

I learned a long time ago that if they start that, get up, walk out.

Oh, the finance guy is going to TRY to sell you a bunch of shit, but all you have to do is say, "No thanks" and if he gives you any crap, walk out.  Even getting up is usually enough to get them to STFU and finish filling out the paperwork.  At least the folks I bought the truck from this time knew how to take no for an answer, considering most of the crap they try pushing on you (extended warranties, scottchguard, etc.,) is nothing but pure profit for them.

That was my understanding too.  When they operated independent of GM they made a really good product.  While I was considering the car I called everyone I knew that ever owned a Saturn and they all said they wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I saw the brain-damaged primitive hanging around Skin's island earlier today, but he wasn't doing anything especially remarkable.

But then I ran across this:

Elderly man trapped at bottom of toilet

Posted on Thursday, March 21, 2013 4:46:31 PM by JoeProBono

CHATSWORTH, Ga.- An elderly man was hospitalized after spending more than an hour trapped at the bottom of a deep toilet pit at a Georgia park, officials said.

Lisa Parker, spokeswoman for the district that covers the U.S. Corps of Engineers property at Carters Lake, said toilets at the park open to the hole where the refuse is treated and left to decompose. The man apparently fell in after standing on the toilet instead of sitting, the Dalton (Ga.) Daily Citizen reported Thursday.

"We've had these type of toilet facilities for 10 to 15 years, and he just misused the toilet, unfortunately," Parker said.

Parker said the man was trapped for about 70 minutes, as it took some time for family members to become concerned and park representatives had to be summoned to unlock the door.

The spokeswoman said the man was "covered in mess and scraped up." He was taken to Murray Medical Center in Chatsworth.

Does one suppose they have some of this sort of toilet up in northern New Jersey, and that the brain-damaged primitive might have reason to use one some time?

The photograph at the link is hilarious, if one goes to look.

BTW, I bought a Ford a week ago.

Yet my guy buys brand new vehicles every year or so - what a waste of money!  :mental:  Oh, well, it's his money.
