Petition Demands Ban on Hammers and Baseball Bats
« on: January 14, 2013, 12:37:48 PM »
Citing FBI statistics showing that more people are killed by blunt instruments like hammers and baseball bats than rifles and shotguns, a petition at the White House website demands a complete ban on them, Fox News reported Friday.

In 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs."

The first murder I had ever heard of in my county was a woman killing another woman with a hammer.

Let's restrict buckets the amount of water in all buckets to 1/8" of water.

I'm serious...we need to have a "serious discussion" about buckets.

What we have to do is start a database of everyone who owns a bucket, and limit the size of the bucket a person can own so it holds exactly 1/8" of water. We have to limit bathtubs by putting special devices on the spigot when the water reaches 1/8". (It can be turned off for a shower). For your kitchen sink, too.

If you want to buy a bucket, you have to go through extensive background checks, and some states you must have a permit per state law. And in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, you must keep the handle of the bucket, the bucket itself, and the water spigot the fills the bucket in separate rooms.

Of course, any superfluous handles we put on the buckets are banned because they make the buckets look more dangerous.

Offer up BFSZ (Bucket Free School Zones), since drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children. Ban the sinks in the bathrooms, toilets (because nerdy kids get "swirlies"), and the janitor's buckets.

And finally, if your child drowns, absolve all responsibility from the parents. It was society's fault the child couldn't stay away from the bucket.

You forgot all the deaths caused with the drug trade.  All the deaths caused by drunken drivers and the death caused by people zoning out on over the counter cold medications.

Anyone remember the Nimitz in 1980 where the pilots smashed into the deck because they were all taking cold medicine, or so they said.

More and more blame is being put on OTC drugs for dangerous behavior.   [ odd when a State Senator smashes up his car in DC and tells the cops he was on the way to make a vote at 2 am.  Then says he was under the influence of an OTC medication, that Senator does not in any way sue or call for a FDA investigation on the product.]

Guns kill, this we know, but few family's have a loved one taken from them because of the gun.     We loose family to drunk drivers, we loose more to Doctors mistakes, to pharmacist mix ups , and just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Disease and old age carry us off as does accidents from a rattle snake bite to getting run over by a bus.

Odd that back a few years ago an Uncle had to get a permit to own what we would today call an assult weapon.   He came into possession of what called a Tommy gun from ancestors that were rum runners on the coast.   His licence to keep the weapon was a couple hundreds a year. He paid each year, but today his grand kids keep it without paying anything for gun shows and what not.

Don't laugh now, but the LA City Council at one point showed their "concern" over children drowning in buckets by debating mandating that only buckets that could be sold had to have holes in the bottom.

I wish I was kidding.

No Sparky, there are some odd laws outside California.

In 1942 some people wanted to pass a law that all baby's, male were to be sterilised.  Up intill the 70's in Oregon people with Epilepsy could not marry.

In the south up to the 80's  woman were sterilised without concent when they were considered deliquints in the court system, all kind of weird laws have come about by well meaning people.

Today, say you are very healthy, a Mormon and find someone that will pay you $100,000 for a clean kidney, can you sell it ?

Woman on the street that sell their body parts, can they sell it ????  What law says what a person male or female cannot put into their mouth ?   Ever see an eating contest, no one gets arrested for that. The contestants are paid to swallow.

Yes I know that we all have to eat to live, but who is to say where the protine comes from, long as you are paid to swallow, you are being paid to eat.

Why can males go topless and woman can't, both have nipples and some men have bigger boobs then I do.
