Dear old Lu is having the same situation we're having here today on conservativecave; traffic is way down because of the holiday.  Both Skins's island and conservativecave are only crawling along.

Which is understandable; real life after all is more important.

The usual, roasted chicken and vegetables, but I was thinking of having sushi for lunch.  There's a new restaurant down the street and their crunchy shrimp roll is tasty.

It appears that lately--the past couple of weeks--the cooking and baking primitives have been enamoured of Deutsch as their language of choice though.

There's so much food here that I don't even want to think about it.

Instead, about suppertime, I think I'll run into town and get a $1.59 slice of convenience store pepperoni pizza; no fuss, no mess, no trouble.

Twice stuffed baked potatoes.
Sweet potato / bourbon casserole
Oyster stuffing
Smoked oysters
Chocolate / spiced rum pecan pie
Pumpkin cream cheese pie.

Balvenie 14 year old rum-cask scotch.
George Dickel Tennessee Whisky.
Home made eggnog with brandy.

Tonight we will have Wild Salmon showered with dill, mashed potatoes, and stir fried sweet & sour Swiss Chard. I think I will skin the pork shoulder I'm going to make taco filling from tomorrow and set the fat to rendering tonight. If I get enough, I'll make flour tortillas fresh for Christmas Eve. Although I love tamales for Christmas, I can't be on my feet all day to make them and be able to smile on Christmas morning. I'm going to add ciabatta rolls to my menu.

How do you like that George Dickel Tennessee Whisky?

I was a "Jack" guy for years...until I tried Dickel.
I find it smoother, and it has less "after effects" than Jack.
Also, a bit less expensive...can't go wrong.

The Dickel plant has an excellent tour. Not a crowded tourist trap like Jack Daniels.

That was the reason I switched.  Went to the Jack trap in the morning, found out Dickel was only about 8 miles from it, went there after lunch.

Dickel is filtered through 24 feet of sugar maple charcoal, vs. 12 feet for Jack, and Dickel is cold filtered, Jack is not...the cold filtering helps remove some of the 'non-alcohol' by products of distilling, which may cause a real bad headache the next morning.

Tonight is homemade beef tamales. Tomorrow lunch is smoked ham, sweet potato biscuits, mashed potatoes/gravy, and green bean casserole.

I'm a Jack guy myself. Black label though. Green label a little rough. Tried Dickel. Don't care for it.

I really did not eat, had a busy day at work.

Tomorrow I'm working so the DUmmies can take another year off.

I might go out to Dinner after work (Christmas night) it all depends on how I feel and if I can stay awake.  :-)

I checked at a couple of local liquor stores and the Class Six yesterday. No joy. I'll have to expand my search.

I used to buy Dickel regularly.  It's pretty good stuff, more flavorful than Jack Daniels.
