I work at Lowes. Both Lowes and Depot have trucks loaded and ready as soon as they activate their Emergency Response Centers. As soon as you get put under a watch they take over all stock ordering for the duration of the emergency. If you get hit you stay under their control until your area is rebuilt.
Once they activate stock begins rolling your way. Plywood, shutters, hardware for both. Generators, gas cans, water and the rest to prepare. Once you go under a warning in come the clean up and repair supplies.
All these companies, unlike governments in the NE evidently, have been doing this for decades. They know their shit and prepare for it in advance.
