Is it just me, or does the other side currently seem delusional and in denial?

I have become a crazy connoisseur of political news and I read just about everything.

I am getting quite disturbed by the far right of the Republican party. Has anyone ventured into the messageboards of these tea-party-type sights?

They are completely in denial, suggesting that Romney has "momentum" as they cling to right-leaning Rasmussen polls and opinion pieces that are not based in reality. They ignore the majority of polls that show Obama leading in the key swing states, and the Time poll is dismissed due to some creative denial they've got going on.

I read some of the stuff, and I'm truly frightened for these people. The opinion writers do a disservice to these people when they write about Obama having "low turnout at his rallies" (LOL!) or a lack of enthusiasm from the base (LOL again!).

Obama's crowds have been 10,000+ here in my swing state of Iowa and the ground game here is off-the-charts phenomenal. Early voting here in Iowa has registered Dems ahead of registered Republicans by 20 percent. These numbers are reflected in nearly every state.

I don't think the media (or right-wing mouthpieces) are doing these unstable tea partiers any favors. They're keeping them in denial. They are going to unravel at the seams on election night after Obama wins.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021632382

If 0bama does win, we won't unravel, we won't be happy but we wont unravel. However when Romney wins you goons are going to become so unhinged that I will not be surprised if some of you do bodily harm to yourselves.

You call us delusional when your president has no record to run on, he has to lie, distort, and play silly games in order to keep from talking about how his first term has gone. In a sane country a president with his record would be down by 10 to 20 points.

9. I guess I've just never seen denial to this extent...

They dismiss the obvious signs that Obama has all of the advantages. They cling to partisan polls and bizarre half truths.

I guess when you really want something--and you can't face the truth--you can convince yourself of anything.

When I approach the election and what is happening--I like to scour all information and find the answers. Of course I want Obama to win, but I'm not an idiot. I wouldn't ignore obvious signals, like the recent Time Ohio poll and all of the other polls that show Obama ahead in Ohio. Common sense would dictate to me that if Romney doesn't win in Ohio, he's done. I find it hard that their conclusion is that Romney is going to win in a landslide because Rasmussen polls said so and because their right-wing mouthpiece of choice told them some anecdotal "stories".

It just seems weird to me.

Yet left wing polls and anecdotes posted at DU are proof that Romney is toast.  :mental:

11. They don't have much to cling to, do they?

History is leaving them in the dust. It is weird, but it's only going to get weirder once some reliably red states become blue (TX, AZ, etc.)

And we are delusional?  :rotf:
If we are as delusional as you idiots we would be claiming that we were going to take CA.

13. I saw a guy on a coservative website

saying that Romney was going to win California. Now that's delusional. He was totally serious, too.

Uh huh sure he was. He was either being sarcastic, or he is a mole, or you made the whole thing up.

12. And yes, 2004 was a great example...

I wanted Bush out more than anything. However, I knew what the reality was. I wasn't, and neither were you, full of delusions and crazy expectations that don't mesh with reality.

Also, like you--I cried a lot in 2004. I felt gobsmacked for several days. We cried, but what will these tea-party types do? They seem very, very angry and they spend most of their time amped up on fear from Glenn Beck, Hannity and other propagandists.

They're angrier and almost strung out--and now they're anesthetized with Rasmussen, right-wing radio and this silly "momentum" meme. What happens when that anesthesia wears off?

It just seems like a long, long way to fall for people who don't seem that sane.

Oh please you guys were so unhinged in 2004 it made 2000 look like you were sane in comparison.

23. but we knew 2000 and 2004 was going to be close, yes, the "losses" hurt but we weren't living

in some fantasy about how we were going to win big.

History rewritten everyday at DU.  :rotf:
Hell till this day some of you still claim that Kerry really won in a landslide but Chimpy stole it.

22. Wait until November 7th

Enjoy this. This is actually the calm before the storm, they are utterly convinced they are winning. Wait until they get the actual results. Then the dangerously unhinged right will know no bounds.

Yeah we will be just as unhinged as we were in 2008, when we had the nerve to organize and start a comeback in 2010. We can't be sane like you guys and poop on cop cars and destroy public parks like you fine outstanding citizens.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I suspect I'll have to issue a "shout out" to the CoffeeCat primitive election night, just as I did for the now-late Chief S itting Bull, the greatest primitive ever, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, in November 2010.

Suck it DUmmies! Obama Polling Far Behind 2008 in Swing States. And just in case you losers think these are RW numbers, the stats used are RCP averages. That means the majority of them lean left and over sample Dems.

"First, let's look at where Obama was polling in the swing states on this date in 2008. The number cited is his lead in RCP's average of swing state polling. I note where Obama was polling about 50%

    Virginia +7.5 (54.5%)
    Florida +2.3
    Colorado +5.4 (50.5%)
    Ohio +6.6 (50%)
    Iowa +11.8 (52.8%)
    Nevada +3.3
    Wisconsin +11.4 (52%)
    Pennsylvania +10.8
    Michigan +17 (54.8%)
    North Carolina +1.3

This was clearly a campaign with a lot of momentum. Now, let's see where things stand today. (R signifies Romney leads in the RCP average.)

    Virginia R+1.4
    Florida R+1.7
    Colorado R+0.2
    Ohio +2.1
    Iowa +2
    Nevada +2.7
    Wisconsin +2.7
    Pennsylvania +4.8
    Michigan +4
    North Carolina R+5.6"

It's funny how they cite a poll with a D+9 sample in order to say that we're denying reality.  Primitives, here's a clue: Republicans and Democrats are about even.  The election will come down to independents, and in just about every poll, Romney is winning them by double digits.

I just read something that brought up the fact that the Dems are imploring their die-hards to get out and vote early, while our side is targeting the recently converted undecideds and independents.

Here's a kooky right wing statement: If this trend keeps up, you will see a Republican firestorm ob election day.

They are going to unravel at the seams on election night after Obama wins.

If he wins, not even close.

I will tell you this though, and you need to let this sink in.  We will be vocally and systematically opposed to him, even more than we have the last 4 years.  We collectively have more money and are collectively in better positions within our communities to effect what he's able to do.  You libs never seem to get it; we as conservatives are either going to do things the right way or we're not going to do them at all.  Dear Leader's ways are not the right way.  And without us cooperating, you're dead in the water.
