Eupher and other brass players!
« on: October 07, 2012, 02:25:58 PM »
My daughter has a chair audition coming up and can't find any site for free trombone music.  Do you know where she could get any music fit for a 9th grade trombonist?  I don't even know where to start.

Well, there are a few sites available but some might want to charge a small fee for "free" sheet music.

IMSLP is probably beyond a 9th grader, but it's free:

I've got a number of solos and such. What exactly does her audition consist of? Scales and arpeggios? A prepared solo? Put her on the phone!  :-)

I'm bailing out for about 15 minutes, but I'll be back.

For my sophomore audition, we were required to play stuff from the Arban's Book. There are plenty of decent things in there to use. Mine sucked because my good horn was in for repair and I had to use my barely playable Grandfather's trombone.

The Arban's book has been re-edited by Brian Bowman and Joe Alessi (former USAF Band euph soloist, now professor at University of North Texas; and principal trombone of the NY Phil, respectively) to remove all the errors.

Did you know there were BOATLOADS of errors in the earlier vintages of the Arban's book? No? Well then, you weren't workin' HARD enough, were ya?  :fuelfire:   :rotf:   :lmao:

She needs a prepared solo that has to be at least 120 beats and will be graded on difficulty
