Loveland school seizes rosary beads from student, says they’re ‘gang symbol’

LOVELAND, Colo. — A student is questioning whether his faith or his fashion is under fire at his high school in Loveland.

Thompson Valley High School officials have confiscated his rosary beads twice since school started three weeks ago.

And he says they never told him, or his family, why.

I'm not a Catholic so I found this part interesting:

The bigger problem the district says is Vigil’s rosary had 13 beads per section, instead of the traditional 10.

That 13, they say, can be associated with the Sureno’s gang.

These zero tolerance rules at schools are well beyond absurd these days.

Too bad the zero tolerance doesn't extend to illegal aliens in the school. That might have a better impact on eradicating the surenos 13 gangs than confiscating a kids rosary beads.

This is from 2010, but it does happen. Although the rosary does have it's own problem.

 A Washington D.C. law firm is representing a 7th grader from Colorado Springs who says he was told in school last week he can't openly wear religious jewelry because some people are or could be offended.

So Now the school system has to inform the Muslim Patents their girls can now longer wear scarves or long skirts ???? Perhaps the school needs a dress uniform for all.

Young boys in the faith of the black Muslim no longer wear those hats they wear.    And what about the parents themselves, can they no longer walk into a public  school wearing any kind of head covering, do Muslim mothers have to uncover their heads to watch their sons play a school sport ???

How far do they want this to go, a student whose father is a Minister cannot wear his collar to identify him as a minister, a Catholic Priest can no longer walk into the school to pick up a niece or nephew ???

How long did it take a group of idiots to examine the Rosary to count all the beads, and not take into confederation that NOT all Rosary's are the same number of beads for all the non Roman Catholic Churches ?   Lots of Orthodox churches out there.

Anyone check into the beaded Santera necklaces from South America ??  Worked with a small group from Guatemala and as I was taking a course in comparative religion recognised their beads.    So Now who is checking the number of beads and their color in the class rooms.

Are these people crazy, I worked with Buddhists that came to work with different color embroidery floss around their wrists, they told me this was a part of their faith.   

I have a pass down Rosary from a Great grand parent that I have worn with a little black dress.   It is most unusual and I do get no questions on it.     So what, I also have a beautiful star of David I wear brought home from the Holy Land, and a piece of Jewelry brough back from Egypt to replicate the Anton Rah period.

Then I would guess any turquoise jewelry can be thought of the American Indian faith.   What the heck can these educated idiots going to think of next ?????

Yeah, I left to follow the work, but it's bullshit like this that would make sure I never come back.

Should be proof positive to all who can see that stupid is contagious: used to be, this kind of insanity was confined to the moonbat enclaves of Pueblo, Denver and Boulder.   Loveland is deep in the "red state" portion of Colorado.

Come  to think of it don't some don't some sects of Muslim wear bracelets that are used as prayer beads ????Some vague memory of news clips back years ago showed some high Poobah visiting the US President and having them in hand with the others in his group.     ------Makes me remember Jackie Gleason's Ralph Cramden and the Mighty Order of Raccoons.

  Religious symbols are everywhere, to say a symbol of any religion on a child is offensive means we must remove from public view all symbols of faith, crosses from the tops of churches and the minarets from the Muslim temples.    All little Chapels in hospitals closed down plow under Arlington and all cemetery's in the country.  Best not fly the flag of Israel or of 5-6 other foreign country's with the cross upon it,.    And stop those annoying church bells calling for Prayer.---Can't do anything about public speech so the 5 time a day loud speakers on the Mussies speakers can stay.

You cannot tell me some educator actually counted the beads on a rosary and declared it unauthentic.   Please tell me these are not Educators that make right out of college $50,000 a year to teach our children how to get along in diverse cultures and try to understand them.

I don't care if my child goes to school with a kid wearing a Voodoo necklace and has a bone in their nose.  Least that will happen is if my kids says WTF they will get an explanation that will add to their education and give them interest in others lives, not fear of strangers, people whose eyes are oddly made, skin a different shade.           One has to be taught to hate.------South Pacific-----
