1. not an adjustor, but I do know that you should take any/all precautions to prevent further damage

alos learned the hard way that if a person makes more than x number of claims the insurance company will cancel the policy and then you will end up paying double rates elsewhere for 5 years

This happened to my mom when she had her fence repaired for the third time.

Her third/final claim was for a mere $500-her Farmer's policy was then cancelled

then her new policy elsewhere cost an additional $500 a year

this was back in 1996

I do know that you are allowed to choose the company that will fix it.

If I were you I would get a few estimates so you have an idea what it will cost.

2. oh good idea, I hadn't thought about estimates

thank you

One quite reasonably assumes the greedy thorn primitive's going to find all the guys coming to inspect and make estimates, are bitches too.

I can't wait to see how this pans out. I bet anything the "bitch" insurance agent is a really pleasant woman who perhaps smiled and showed professional courtesy to the greedy thorn primitive and her husband.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Well this is not true.
Since getting out of the ARMY I am now in the insurance field and I am a adjuster.
You wont get your policy canceled for filing claims. That's what a policy if for.
A policy can be non renewed if your ISO risk rating goes up but that is usually based on other factors.
Bottom line, home owners insurance is for catastrophic events. You have a hole in your fence you fix it yourself, not file a claim.  :whatever:

If she were REALLY smart, she'd send her drunk husband up to fix it....

On the other hand, "storms" causing roof problems is so vague.  Did a tornado take the roof off?  File a claim.  Did it rain a lot and you discovered a leak?  That's a maintenance issue, and your insurance company would be right to mock you.

Hint to DUmmie:  If you have real storm damage, you're covered.  Home Owner's Insurance is not for you to get a new roof just because it's been 20 years since its been done.

Libs tend to treat insurance as their personal pocketbook where they should pay $5 a year and get $100 worth of benefit a year.

greenbrair DUmmie, insurance is for catestrophic situations, not for incidental happenings of everyday life.  If you need a new roof because it's time, you should have been saving up for the day you would need it replaced.

BINGO!  Raising your deductible will greatly lower your premium cost.  Filing the one claim for $1000 will cost you a lot more in additional premiums in the next few years than just fixing the problem yourself.

Have to remember we are dealing with DUmmies.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Ooops.

I must have doused that bonfire.

I posted it here when it was still brand-new, and figured I would check it later, to see what evolved.

I just checked it, and it's dead.

Sorry about that.
