When I was a kid, through my teenage years, my parents qualified for food stamps.  They refused to even entertain the notion of getting a handout.  We ate alot of pb&j sandwiches, cold cereal, rice, beans, cheaper cuts of meat (not at all palatable unless slow cooked), and we never went out for fast food or to a sit down restaurant.  Instead of sodas we drank Koolaid and water.

By golly, we survived just fine AND we didn't get fat, or malnourished.  Amazing what a teensy little bit of ingenuity will do for stretching the budget.  It never ceases to amaze me what people think they need, or they are poor.  TVs, computers, cell phones. :mental:

A few weeks ago I stood behind two very overweight women with a shopping cart piled with cases of soda, chips, pastries, cookies, etc.  Didn't see any good, economical food in it.  One pulled out her trusty taxpayer funded EBT card. ::)

It seems to me that what's truly lacking in many of the welfare recipients in this country is a sense of self worth and pride.  The government sure as heck doesn't encourage those feelings, not with a scumbag like Obama in the White House and all the Dems running around whipping up false grievances against anyone who isn't in the bottom of the bucket with the rest of the crabs/Dem pity party members.  In fact, the Dem party SHOULD rename itself the Pity Party.

Sure you did but just think of how many gold necklaces, $300 Nikes, Smart phones, computers, big screens , 20 inch rims and other luxury shiat you did without. To expect lazy sacks of shit to do without that is just plan racist.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Whoa.

Dear cali's resorted to using food stamps?

Of course, her mother might still be alive--although she'd be pretty old by now--with a tight grip on the purse-strings.

And by the way, why is dear cali living on the second floor of her house in the woods?

What if it were to start on fire?

I think given her leg and her immobility, dear cali'd be safer living on first floor, sleeping on the couch.

Either that or the welfare queen could live in the back of her Cadillac limousine.
We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.

Just this afternoon at Walmart, a man in front of me used his Nevada WIC card to buy three cases of soda.  ::)

That is the kind of shit the pisses me off.

Then at the end of the month they wonder why they don't have any money left on the card for food.

True, we were white, so it's okay to refer to the likes of us as white trash, trailer park trash, honkies and so on (I heard it all growing up).  But, that wasn't racism cuz we were the dominant group in American society.  I'm not all that much older than the Obamas.  Guarantee their childhoods were ALOT more replete with the materiel things in life than was mine.  But, poor underpriveleged blacks that they were, they were victims of the "system", and if anyone ever figures out what that means, let me know.

I truly don't mind welfare as a leg up, but it's not meant to be a lifelong handout any more than social security was meant to finance 100% of a  person's retirement.
Sneaking into a country doesn't make you an immigrant any
more than breaking into someone's house makes you part of the family.

Food stamps I really don't have a problem with,to a point.

In Texas if you are unemployed and under age 50, to receive food stamps you need to provide documented proof of 20 hrs/wk of employment searches.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Food stamps as a safety net to keep people from starving I don't have a major problem with.

The problem is you can't have any type of safety net without people taking advantage of it and trying to make a career out of it.

I know of "no questions asked" food banks that were taken over by well off senior citizens pulling up in brand new vehicles stating they had a family of four. They also had handicap plates, so they did not have to stand in line, the food was carried to them.

So others that had to get their children off to school before they could show up to wait in line (in the Nevada sun) that really did have families in need, often were still standing in line when they ran out of food.... :censored:
