Yeah, Skimmer is David Allen.

The dull-witted Lord Marblehead EarlG is also David, but I can't make out the last name. Looks like maybe Albaugh or something like that.

Because if they took the interstate to Charlotte, they would have passed within 5 miles of my house! 

US-29 connects Charlottesville (UVA), Lynchburg (Liberty U), and Danville, and is a 4-lane road for the most part, but it is full of stop lights in that 100 miles stretch, especially the southern part (Lynchburg to Danville).
