Clinton regrets RFK assassination remark
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:49:37 PM »
Quote
FALLS, S.D. - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton quickly apologized Friday after citing the June 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in defending her decision to keep running for the Democratic presidential nomination despite increasingly long odds.

"I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever," the former first lady said.

The episode occurred as Clinton campaigned in advance of the June 3 South Dakota primary.

Responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board about calls for her to drop out of the race, she said: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don't understand it," she said, dismissing the idea of abandoning the race.

Clinton said she didn't understand why, given this history, some Democrats were calling for her to quit.

Oh my.

What if she had mentioned Franklin Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage while in office?

I think the Obamaites, in their frenzied Hate of Hillary Clinton, are spinning this way out of sight.

Would someone with Photoshop get busy and put Hillary's face over LBJ's in the photo of LBJ being sworn in on Air Force One?  If you are real ambitious, put Michelle Obama's face over Jackie Kennedy's and Bill Clinton's over Lady Bird's.  If you REALLY feel good, put Ruth Bader Ginsberg over Sarah T. Hughes.

Lets see how this goes...

Obama apologizes over his Wright issues - people let it slide. Somehow, I don't think the Dems are going to give Hill a pass on that comment.. And the thing is -- Its not something she did other make an off-the-cuff comment that sometimes crap happens.

The Obama folks see it as an opportunity to push Hillary out - They will use it.

The clintons are hated and feared in all the left -- especially the democratic party.   When the super delegates went to hussein, the long knives came out (witness edwards' timing of his support of hussein).  Just when it looked like mrs. clinton had been running a pretty even-keeled campaign -- *SURPRISE*

This is the beginning of the end of the clintons as ANY kind of political power.  Remember, it was BJ who was the first ex-President to stay active politically -- SINCE AND INCLUDING WASHINGTON! -- after is term.  He thought the "rules" don't apply to him -- nor his so-called wife.  This pissed off a lot of people who would normally stand where they do. And, of course, those of use who care about tradition and the like hate the SOB even more.

I have decided that, as much as I love Operation Chaos, I really want the "clinton machine" shut down forever.  I am even willing to give hussein a chance (HAH) in exchange.

As much as I disliked Bill Clinton, he ran smart, if not ruthless, campaigns.  What I can't understand regarding this and Hillary's other self-inflicted wounds, for example, the Bosnia story, is "who's in charge".  Either Bill Clinton has been shut out of the campaign or he, himself, wasn't the real brains behind his own campaigns (Dick Morris, perhaps?).
When we were at peace, Democrats wanted to raise taxes. Now there's a war, so Democrats want to raise taxes. When there was a surplus, Democrats wanted to raise taxes. Now that there is a mild recession, Democrats want to raise taxes.

I honestly can't see the big deal here in her comments.  Bobby Kennedy was assasinated in June while campaigning.     She was talking about famous candidates who were still punching it out late into the election year for the nomination.

She is a moron, but this really is nothing.
