I had a trade show that same year that King was arrested and asked a couple of cops if I could hold their batons. These are the same that the fine officers in the LAPD used on a PCP fueled King. Once I held one I knew how even a PCP fueled King could take those blows. I asked why so light (like balsa wood) and the reply was that the baton could not weigh more than 18 ounces. I tell you one thing even a souvenir bat from a baseball game would have broke the bone, lots of them with one swing. King had no broken bones but many contusions. While it looked terrible the reality was it was not as bad a portrayed.

Who you calling "these people" ?
The one primitive opines the only person who would voluntarily take PCP is someone who is washing away the pain of a police beating. Rodney was taking it before his infamous beating. And he went on a nationally televised and well respected doctor's reality show, and confessed his drug use openly. Once a lib reaches a conclusion supportive to their agenda, no further analysis is required.

The beat-down was real enough, the tape pretty clearly showed they were just beating the living shit out of him instead of trying to subdue and restrain him, and they had more than a sufficiency of cops present to do it properly without taking any risk at all.  He was in the wrong, they were in the wrong.
