campaign season for Top DUmmies of 2012 starting
« on: August 27, 2012, 07:07:05 AM »
Usually the first part of September of every year is when decent and civilized people who have preferences as to primitives, start promoting and boosting them, for the Top DUmmies of the year.

One shouldn't be too obvious about it, given that the primitives are paranoid at the drop of a pin, and might accuse decent and civilized people of "stalking" them, which of course is pablum nonsense.

From the looks of the calendar, it looks like this:

September 1, 2012, subliminal "campaigning" for one's favorite primitives begin.

November 21, 2012, 6 p.m. central time, 5 p.m. mountain time, nominations for Top DUmmies are accepted.

November 30, 2012, 11 p.m. central time, 10 p.m. mountain time, nominations are closed.

December 2, 2012, 6 p.m. central time, 5 p.m. mountain time, the official ballot comes out.

December 12, 2012, 11 p.m. central time, 10 p.m. mountain time, voting is closed.

Just a reminder; as time gets nearer, there'll be more reminders.

But the purpose of this reminder is simply to remind decent and civilized people that the campaign season's coming up soon.

Carry on.

Surely there isn't more than one serious, crazy, bald, fat, dwarf candidate for DOTY.  (Early subliminal campaigning.)

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I will mark those dates on my calendar.  In the meantime, there are SO many DUmmies out there and only one vote.  Decisions, decisions.   :rotf:

I see no reason to cast my vote.  These elections are fixed from the start.  Damn the 1%.

Actually, the vote count is scrupulously honest.

There's two people involved, and neither knows what the other's doing.

And then it's meshed together.

We run a clean shop here; every vote's counted, and counted the way it's been cast.....unlike what happens in blue cities and blue states, where totals are the figment of the boss's imagination.

I know it works, because defying subtle and gentle suggestions from franksolich, the voting public rarely, if ever, votes the way franksolich wants them too.   :bawl:

Will this campaign come complete with NBPP members at polling places ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

About as close as it gets to that, intimidating voters, all we got here is franksolich, and we all know how intimidating franksolich is.

Actually, what happened in the past is that Mr. Wiggum, who created the Top DUmmies in 2005--the wonderful idea wholly and only his--counts the votes and franksolich hands out the awards.

It's kind of like those award ceremonies on television, where the award-giver's given a sealed envelope, and has to open it.  I myself never know any of the winners until just before each award's given; about half an hour before everybody else knows.  I write the awards because I can type 111 words a minute (and so can write faster); they've always been off-the-cuff pieces, never carefully-thought-out pieces.

This has created problems where I'm not myself intimately acquainted with a winning primitive, the consequence being that the particular award's poorly written and sometimes has errors of fact in it.  Give me a PoP (Primitive of Prominence), and the award writes itself.  Give me a lumpenunterprimitiven, one of the faceless lynch-mob, about whom I know nothing, and I bomb.

The week between Christmas and New Year's Day is the worst week of the year (on the internet) for me, personally.  Unrelenting worry and stress.  I might be expecting to be dealt an ace, or at least a king or queen, but get only a three of hearts or a two of clubs instead (lumpenunterprimitiven), with which I can't hardly do anything.

The quality of the awards vary; for example, the award for the Top DUmmie of 2010 was merely a spite-piece; I'd just coming in from a raging snowstorm, where I'd been helping "guide" some cattle to shelter, and wasn't in a good mood.  On the other hand, the awards for the #02 DUmmie of 2010 and the #03 DUmmie of 2011 were, believe me, Labors of Love.

I was just over in the DUmping Ground looking at the DOTY candidates of the past and was surprised to see that spooked911 only made the list one year, and that was in a very pathetic 16th place. Then I got to thinking about things and realized the spooked911 is basically a one trick pony. He may have a lot of DUness, but he only focuses it in the area of conspiracy. Even his conspiracies seem to fall within one area. Compare his DUness to nadin's. She is all over the board. Most good entertainers know that one should be versatile to succeed, and nads is a good entertainer.

The DUmmies should learn the dos and don'ts from these two.
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

You know, for a while, when DU3 was new, my fellow alum Skins lifted the ban on the primitives discussing the DUmpster on Skins's island.

I didn't care much for that, lifting the ban, myself, but it's not my real-estate.

It hasn't been publicly announced anywhere on Skins's island, but the ban was reimposed some several weeks ago, via word-of-mouth.

Actually, I think my fellow alum should ban the primitives coming over here just to look.

Whether or not the primitives think so, their job is to provide decent and civilized people with amusement and entertainment.  (If the primitives think differently, well, what the primitives think doesn't count, either here on the internet or out in the real world.)

That's the only "social good" the primitives are intellectually and physically capable of doing, the only contribution to society and to the betterment of mankind as a whole, they can make.

The primitives shouldn't worry about what we're doing; the primitives should just keep on doing their own job.

As long as Skins keeps this new ban in effect, right now, we have a case of the primitives watching us watching the primitives, and not being able to say anything.

That's complicated enough, but it was worse before, when we were compelled to watch the primitives watching us watching the primitives.  I don't want to go through that again.
