Why have gas prices risen 60-70 cents per gallon in the last 2-3 weeks?

What have I missed? or is big oil trying to help Rmoney?

New thread - still just a few replies.

I find it amusing that

A) Oil prices rose because of speculation
B) Oil prices dropped, mainly because of Obama's tough action against speculators.
C) Oil prices are rising again, because of speculators.

So, primitives -- you are left with two possible responses because of your beliefs.

A) Obama really doesn't have the ability to bring down fuel prices.
B) Obama failed.

Pick one.

Damn Miskie, I would have thought you would have known by now that if something good happens, it's all 0bama's doing, something bad is Bush's fault.  :-)

that was for the first three years. Now it is more generic, " If something good happens, it's all 0bama's doing, something bad is not Obama's fault."

Gas has gone up?  Ours has been sitting at $3.39 for regular for about two weeks now.  Hasn't gone up, hasn't gone down.  It's just stuck there.

It's been creeping back up here. A few weeks ago was in the $3.09 range now it's at $3.48.

Filled my wife's tank this morning.  Since she's on 'staycation' for two weeks, she shouldn't use a whole lot.  I, OTOH, should top off tomorrow morning, or Tuesday morning.

It's great that Diebold is running all the gas pumps now.  Be sure to fill up at least a week before the election.

I wish.  When I was on vacation in Pittsburg, gas at the local stations there and Colebrook was running about $3.30.  Today the local Cumberland Farms was $3.649--a 12 cent jump from yesterday.  35 cents in the last month.

Chevron was 3.46 for regular, across the street from Quik Trip which was 3.35.  I filled up at the QT even though I had half a tank.  Been burned too many times from prices jumping on Monday.

Okay, you're good.  I filled up this morning.  Just make sure you tell him to lower them again in about two weeks when I need to fill up again.

I was seeing a lot of $3.25 - $3.29 when we first arrived here last week.  Then, about mid week (when I needed to tank up again, doncha know) the prices suddenly spiked back up to the $3.39 - $3.49 range.
