GRRR!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021035143#post18You know damn well that if the Olympics were being held here and they included a 9/11 tribute the DUmbasses would be shrieking like spanked monkeys over it, gnashing their teeth about "TERRA! TERRA! TERRA!" as they so adolescently put it and blaming conservatives and the MIC for "keeping the flames of war stirred", or whatever else their little bumper-sticker-slogan minds could vomit out.
And while I'm in rant mode, let me ask: Why are these nimrods suddenly so jacked-up over the Olympics anyway? Normally they don't give a tin shit about sports and look with disdain on people who have gotten ahead on their physicality, probably because they were always picked last for basketball or skipped P.E. altogether, spending 3rd period toking up under the bleachers (not that there's anything wrong with that). Is it because it's being run this time by the Euroweenies, and the DU loooooooves its can-do-no-wrong Euroweenies? I think so.
Again, can you imagine if the Olympics were here, and we displayed such a pageant of self-congratulations on our history as we saw the Brits do with their opening ceremonies? DUmmies would be having an absolute shit fit about our "jingoism" and "hubris" and "exceptionalism". The organizers would have been blasted for days about "making what should be an inclusive event all about America" and we would have been treated to another non-stop Howard Zinn history lesson on how America and Americans are the Rapists Of Humanity. Yet with the Your-O-Peons doing it the DUmbasses gush and swoon about the beauty and majesty of it all.
Oh and by the way, the tribute to the NHS with the dancing hospital beds was, indeed, an embarrassment. It looked more like an off-Broadway parody of the NHS than a celebration of it. And if you think it was supposed to be a poke in the eye of the U.S. over our healthcare system, I've got a newsflash for you: We don't give a shit. I don't know how many ways we can express that to you. One would think that over the past ten years at some point that would become clear to you. WE DON"T CARE WHAT THE EUROTRASH THINKS. Stick that in your ass and contemplate it.

1. We hear about acts of terror
when it suits them.
Unless they need us to act in a particular way (like support another ****ing war), they won't remind us of past acts of terror.

9. As an American, I'm completely embarrassed

But as a New Jersey girl, I'm not completely surprised.
NBC saw it as either too much of a "downer;" too much "competition" for 9/11; or an opportunity to "avenge" the NHS segment.
Of course, if the situation were reversed, we'd have called back our ambassadors by now.

4. Beautiful memorial cut for stupid Phelphs interview.
NBC suddenly decides that Americans can't handle discussion of terrorism's victims.
An outrageous decision by NBC on both political and artistic grounds.
Was it because the victims weren't American? It was certainly not because another Phelphs interview is newsworthy....
Thank Tim Berners-Lee for the Internet so we don't have to depend on Matt & Meredith & NBC as gatekeepers!

5. Geez, that is disgusting...
why on earth would they do that? It was a beautiful tribute with photos of loved ones who had died sent in by members of the public.
I have to say I watched the Canadian coverage on CTV (they showed the tribute) and then when NBC finally started I tried to watch their coverage too but it was SO bad, so many ads, the hosts were, imo, terrible, I stopped watching so I didn't realize they had cut it out.
Disgusting.
