The story of Taylor Morris (PHOTOS)


Taylor Morris learned at an early age he was hooked on the outdoors, adventurous, the middle of 4 children and always the last one inside for dinner at his home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. His mother Juli recalled, "Our family took a camping trip from Niagra Falls down the East Coast one summer. Taylor set up the tents every night, started the fires, cooked the meals. Taylor was only 8 years old." As Taylor grew older and took to extreme water sports and rock climbing, Taylor discovered he was also very calm under extreme pressure. This quality would later make him the perfect candidate for the Navy's EOD, Explosive Ordinance Disposal.



Leading a team of Army Special forces to a classified location, Taylor stepped on an IED. It exploded underneath him and blew off all four of his limbs. Taylor recalled the moment to me over the phone, "As soon as I stepped on it, I knew. There was a moment, then I heard the blast. I felt the heat. I knew I had lost my legs. As I summersaulted through the air, I watched my legs fly off."



After the explosion, Taylor didn't lose consciousness, he didn't go into shock. His thoughts immediately crystalized. Even though Taylor was bleeding to death, he called to the oncoming medics NOT to come get him, putting their safety in front of his own life. "I recounted the moment of the explosion. There was no visual on the mine and no sound ID on my mine detector. That told me the mine was old. If there were other mines out there, the medics wouldn't see them or detect them unless it was cleared properly. I knew I had arterial bleeding from all 4 limbs and I was bleeding out fast. I told my buddies to stop, it would only have hurt me more if somebody stepped on another one."



Three days later on May 6th Taylor landed back in the States and was transported to Walter Reed hospital in Washington D.C. to begin the long and painful rehab process. Upon his arrival, Taylor became only the 5th person at Walter Reed to ever survive a four limb amputation. His physical progression in the last three weeks has defied everybody's expectations, "My body is responding well. I'm already sitting up. I'm very fortunate." Just yesterday, the stitches in his arms were removed and he was fitted for prosthetics.

Need to know more here.    We are the government that he sacrificed his limbs for.   Is he getting the best care in the world, what about his family, are we giving him  and them housing and seeing he has a future ???

We can donate to him and family today but what about 5-10 years down the road, will he still be helped by the government and not forgotten ??

We have to stay on the back of our politicians to insure our wounded do not end up living on the streets with no job or purpose.

We spend Big bucks to send aid to other countrys that can afford to help their own.   Time to start to help those that sacrificed their healthy lives to give us our life style.

Screw all the money we send over seas to countrys that use the money to send our citizens home torn up physically and mentally.    We can take a few billion and pour it into our people who give us a way of life never before seen on Planet Earth.

Screw the countrys with billions in the bank and depend on other nations to bail them out of a fix, be it donations for food or housing.   

Cherity begins at HOME, be it our Heros in the Millitary, Fire Fighters, Police of any kind, and not to bail out a company that screws themselves up.      We can bribe others to be our friends , they take the money and laugh at us and use our money to buy weapons to kill us.

We can help this Hero out today-----but we must make sure he and others like him continue to recieve help as long as they live.   

So far so good for our Hero, just one of many that need total care, to really help him and others is to make sure the tax dollars we pay go for their care not just today but 50 years down the line.

Anyone remember when Indonesia had all those natural problems and we sent 2 billion dollars to rebuild and we all sent money and food through our churches.    We were critized for not sending more money to help when Indonesia and leaders were wealthy up the ying-yang.

Crap, the money we sent to a nation that could afford to rebuild itself could have been used to reinstall the VA free college education or trade school for our returning Vets. 

When do we start looking after our own, why are we ignoring our own children to take from them to give to the neighbors kids ?

Do you have a problem with the street people that get in your way going to work, perhaps not able to bath or shave or have a change of clothing ?  Ever wonder who these people are, how they came to being on the streets ?
