Polar Bear Melodrama

Polar bears are not the fragile, vulnerable creatures of liberal iconography. They have thrived in the Arctic for thousands of years, both through periods when their sea-ice habitat was smaller, and larger, than it is now. They will continue to adapt – and the Endangered Species Act can't make the slightest difference. Such realities haven't prevented green showboaters from claiming victory after the Bush Administration designated the polar bear as a "threatened"

Just the "Greenie" way of stopping any thoughts of drilling in ANWR forever ! Even if they find out the bears are not endangered, the "Greenies" will NEVER allow you to take the bears off this list !

My complete break from the Bush administration and also John McCain is near complete.

The road blocks to drill are complete and Bush fell for it. Forget Captain Planet McCain he's a nut case. If I wanted Al gore I would have voted for him in 2000. We are getting screwed by the Republicans everyday. I'm not in that party any longer. Bush disappointed me on this one.

The article makes the point that Kempthorne's hands are tied under the Endangered Species Act. He took several steps to try to mitigate the damage. And if he had not done this, the greens would have taken him to court with possibly worse consequences. We are in big trouble -- our side cannot figure out how to fight our enemies effectively.

We have met the enemy....and it is us (R)!

I read recently that polar bears have increased in population more than ten-fold since the 1950s. The math shows that polar bears are not endangered.
