This is from the deaf and hard-of-hearing forum on Skins's island; it'll take about six months, if ever, for another primitive to see this campfire.

Got rid of the feedback with my HA and can now use phone also
I have had feedback issues with my latest HA for the 2 yrs I had it. Talking on the phone with this ear was practically impossible. Same with using big headphones. I had to adjust the angle in my ear regularly every day.
Last month I had a bad ear infection, ruptured the eardrum several times. I got a t-tube in that ear last week and finally was able to put the HA back in to find....feedback. Constant soft high E tone. ARGH!
I'd talked with the new person who fit my aid (2 yrs ago) and he said it was fit properly, just had to deal with it. I went back in and they put a barrier in the hole that allows air to go through, to equalize pressure and hear a bit of "real" sound. It is wonderful. Immediately the feedback stopped, I can put my hand over my ear, or use the phone and no feedback.
I am glad to get it fixed but wanted to share with you guys, in case anyone else has an issue like this.
