I got a letter published in my (Raleigh) newspaper
http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/05/01/2034605/david-conroy-dont-choose-hate.html

Don’t choose hate

Amendment One isn’t about marriage. The fact is, as much as it pains me to say it, there will be tomatoes growing on Mars before we would see an elected judge or elected legislature in North Carolina changing the state law which bans marriage equality. And that is the only protection to marriage that Amendment One offers. If a federal judge or the Congress were to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act this amendment would offer no protection at all.

This amendment will, with 100 percent certainty, eliminate health benefits for some number of people who are currently getting them. It will, at least for some amount of time, put in danger domestic violence laws protecting people who aren't married.

Great letter.

Translation: I'm TSing you for visiting another website.

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Well, let's see, Rev. Billy Graham has come out in favor of this amendment to the North Carolina constitution.

Some unknown unterprimitiven nut from a website that harbors mostly lunatics has come out against it.

The people of North Carolina have a tough decision, it seems.

No, it wasn't.  Badly written, clear as mud, and completely non-compelling.  Nobody will read past the first sentence.

BTW, judges don't really make laws, DUmbass.

5. 6 days away...

Hopefully your letter, and many of the sane ones in the N&O, will get through to enough voters.
Translation: Only ones that agree with us.
BTW, DUmbass, "hopefully" isn't a recognised word.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

The letter is terribly confusing, and no one will understand his point unless they've already studied the amendment.

Someone like that isn't going to be swayed by a lunatic in the paper.

The DUmpmonkey had a fundamental problem, though.

If his position had been clear, i.e., support your local queers, normal people would laugh at him.

there will be tomatoes growing on Mars if we keep electing liberal presidents, pot will be the first crop grown on Mars.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
