ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Stopped in old neighborhood in VA. just to look at our Old Home. Had a time finding it as the wonderful trees placed curb side were gone for one block. Rest of the place had their trees and looked the same except for the growth of the trees.
Found an old neighbor across from where we lived and asked ----WHERE are the Trees. ????Why is this one block missing the trees ??
As she told me Coons had moved in to this one block, were finding a way to chew their way into Attics and running about in the trees.
HOA now in force, not in my time, tried to trap them but the Coons were too smart and someone had the bright idea that it was better to remove the trees on that block then cost other home owners to pay to remove a problen 3 blocks away. So as the street side trees were a city problem, they came in and removed the very trees that gave the area its beauty.
Insane, the area all of it had street shaded trees, gave value and nostalager to the old homes. After 20 years when I returned the area was still old south except of the one block my home was on, total alian to the rest of the area.
The kids and I did not reconise that block of homes the kids grew up around with, it was an ugly block within a neighborhood that was still beautiful.
This is what happends when HOA's come into a settled comunity , there for 80 years or so and decide to make changes for the new folk that are hyper controlling.
Coons, a small problem for those home owners, they could have gotten traps free from the Aspca, only one block had this problem. so the trees that made the neighborhood what it was were taken down. don't know why the coons did not just move on to other streets, but the result is, this one block looks all so different from the rest of the area.
So sad that the HOA distroyed this block of wonderful old homes with the gracefull trees and the the atmosphere of the South. End of the street 4 houses down the trees are still there, for some reason they had no Coon problems.
All out memorys were gone, whoever decided to do this travesty to just a few homes, the HOA that that brought this forward, because a few complanints of coons in the area and leave other old homes alone with their trees is not and has not done this unless they got Money from someone for doing so.
One can get rid of Coons in the attic or cellar, easy but to destroy 50 year old trees and shrubs to do it is NUTS.
