On Friday a former student age 17 was shot and killed by the police. He was probably a gang member and was definitely doing something wrong. I am not condoning crime.

I will say tho that when he was in my class, everything was yes ma'am, please and thank you. Again, I am not saying he was innocent, but he was 17.

Some of the comments from the newspaper and news channels make me absolutely sick and disgusted at the hate in this world.

I grew up in the suburbs but got bussed to a run-down shithole in the projects thanks to liberal public education policies.  I can honestly say I have never had a good public school teacher in my 12 years.  Competent?  Barely.  Good?  Not a chance.

I read the Eagle every morning.  Not a peep of outrage over the shooting.  Might have been a good kid.  Might have been at the wrong place at the wrong time (dead of night in someone elses home with other people indicates to me that he did not get his house confused with the neighbors).  But, when the cops are outside the house with lights flashing, and someone yells "get on your face"  it is usually best to do what you are told.  No good comes from running or pointing anything at an officer crouched behind the crown vic.
