I really have no problem with gambling - over here just about every pub/club/etc has poker machines.

I look at them as a tax refund device due the the principle demographic of "problem gamblers".

Some like 50% of the revenue collected goes back to the government and the rest goes to the venue - which helps them employ staff and pay the bills.

We have scratch-offs and various forms of lotto/powerball as well. All are heavily taxed - but this is one instance where I have trouble seeing a problem with said taxes.

Noted that I don't gamble in any way shape or form, so the tax paid is entirely voluntary.

Same here - except I sometimes buy a lottery ticket on S. Matthias' Day (he's the patron Saint of lotteries)...I never expect to win anything, but it's hardly a major expense.

If folk want to throw their money in that direction, good for them.

I bought one ticket, if it's meant to be it's meant to be.   :whatever:

I wasted $2 also....but if I win, I'll buy the DUmp, resurrect the dead that lie tombstoned in the cyber graveyard and let the dogs of the word war have at it.

The Zoombies shall rise again.

Could someone explain why this wouldn't work?
Instead of one or small group of individuals winning this obscene $540 million dollar Mega Millions lottery; why couldn't 540 set of numbers be drawn and add 540 new millionaires to the economy?

Funny, I seem to remember when TARP money was being handed to the banks, a better idea was thrown out that giving the taxpayers a quarter mil a piece would have been more than sufficient to kickstart the economy than handing it to obama donors.

Wonder where this DUmmie was on that issue?
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

Or roughly 460.8 cash option, 276.5 after taxes. We figure it to be 15.36 per person take home here at work.

Also decidedly un-Democratic, but hey, who's counting.

I'm surprised none of them brought up the fact that a full 40% goes to O'Bummer's coffers! Lets us see, $540 mil = $216 mil that your messiah can drop down the "Green Energy" black hole!

WTF are ya bitchin' about?

You'd basically be my neighbor.  Abide by the no trespassing signs, and keep your horses off my property and we will get along great.

If my horses are on your property then I am the one with the problem. :rotf:
I am pretty anal about my fences. As long as I can track a deer that I shot if it runs across your property then we split the meat and all is good. :-)

April has the facts, CommonGuy! You have to fence my horses out, not the other way around! We always try and keep our animals on our side of the fence, but if you want to ensure they don't cross the boundary, maintain the fence that keeps them off yer property!

I have one neighbor that in 12 years has never dropped a dime on the fence between us. Occasionally I'll miss a weak spot and some of my horses will go over and help themselves to their apple trees when they're in fruit.

I tell them, (as they say in Russia), toughski shitski! Cut loose of a coupla bucks and help me maintain our mutual fence, and you won't have to worry about it!

I have a coupla miles of fence. It's damn difficult to police the the whole thing on a continuous basis. I have other chores, too!

Well if they shot your horse for being on their land, would you be upset?  Wouldn't they have a right to remedy your horse/your property being on their's?

Well if they shot your horse for being on their land, would you be upset?  Wouldn't they have a right to remedy your horse/your property being on their's?

As I stated above, it is up to you to fence animals out of your yard/land, if you shoot someone's livestock you will probably pay about 4 times what they were worth, plus one hefty fine! If it's open range, and many places are, you will go to jail on top of buyin' said livestock! Hell if ya hit one on the highway, you not only will have to pay to get your car fixed, but pay for the horse/cow too!

So what part of ya have to fence animals out did ya not understand?

To put it in simpler terms, if you and I share a property line with a fence on it, it's as much your responsibility as it is mine.

Hope that clears it up.

(edited to add)

Oh, if ya shoot my Angus/Buffalo cross bull, I will own your property and y'all will never have to worry about it again!

Not understanding still why if I buy property and you contribute no money to buying of said property why your property gets to use my property?

Dogs have to have leashes and you are fined if they bite someone or cause destruction on someone's property so why do you get a pass?

subrogation Law is different from state to state. Also a reason for many a lawsuit.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.
