I agree. We aren't what anyone would consider poor but we havent taken a vacation in YEARS.
Most of our "vacations" are travel to visit kids and grandkids and other family. Even our vacation to Florida was to visit family, my oldest step-daughter was working there all summer, and the only chance we'd have to see her was if we went down there.
Of course, the ordinary working family doesn't "need" elaborate vacations the way the family in the White House does.

Remember how the DUmmies used to cry about Bush going home to spend a few days on his ranch?

So much more expensive than a little trip "home" to Hawaii...
