I know it supposed to "come from the heart", but someone needs to tackle this guy and tell him to find a new gig.   :lmao:

I've had bad songs, even a bad Mass about a year ago, but I never sounded as bad as that.  I even went so far as to apologize to the priest (our church's pastor) who said the Mass that Sunday, and he said, "Don't worry about it.  If this is the worst thing that happens to you all day, then it's a pretty good day."  When I went home, I found that The Heiress had finally potty-trained.  So, Father Butler was right--blowing the singing at that Mass was the worst thing that happened to me that Sunday.

On the other end of that . . . I had about my best song ever almost four weeks ago.  it was a selection titled, "Lord, You Have Come (To The Seashore)" and it was supposedly Pope John Paul II's favorite hymn.  It's a very peaceful, slowly flowing hymn.  I've let my volume really go on it in the past, but this time, the music director told me to back off from the microphone a bit more than I had already, and to sing "softly and intensely."  Then, she switched the synthesizer to "harp."  Let's face it, Pete Townsend isn't about to do his windmill-like guitar playing on a harp.  It's a peaceful instrument.  The effect was so good on the music.  Coupled with my holding my voice back . . . I had five people come up to me afterwards, who have heard me before, and they all agreed that it was the best I'd ever sounded.

Then I got bronchitis . . . ! :banghead: :bawl:

Oh my gosh! I almost fell off the couch laughing.  My cat got close like she was listening and then jumped off the couch and ran away.

Reminds me of attending my grandma's church in BFE Arkansas. The ladies singing that day were so bad that my sister had to excuse herself and act like she had to go to the bathroom. Otherwise, we couldn't stop shaking the  pew from trying to hold the laughter.  Uncomfortable!

ACK!  Obviously  his waaaaaaaaaaaaay too tight jeans turned him into a castrato for the performance spectacle.  I had to turn it off about three screeches into his song since my dogs started getting agitated.  A hundred years ago he would've stampeded the cattle and made the wimmenfolk swoon.

I'm gonna just let this sleeping dog lie. No way am I gonna click on that link.

I gotta tell a story about performing in church -- incident occurred this past Sunday.

Mrs. E, my normal piano accompanist, was out of town over the weekend, so I was stuck soloing to a CD recording of a couple of hymns. These are actually a couple of good ones, but to be honest I have never performed alongside a machine before. Usually there's give and take between the soloist and the accompanist and we do pretty well.

Not so with the machine. It's all on the soloist.

And I can't HEAR the damned piano unless I'm wearing headphones and it's piped in. (Yeah, my hearing is that bad.)

So now here I am in the BACK of the sanctuary with a pair of headphones clamped on my head playing the prelude -- which went over pretty well.

The postlude was different, though. On that one, I played the first 16 bars unaccompanied. (It was written that way.) The pastor, in trying to "help" me, pushed the damned "play" button on the CD player because he thought I was supposed to start at the same time as the CD. Of course, the CD was playing the wrong damned hymn at the wrong damned time, in the wrong damned key and the wrong damned meter.

I gave up after the 16 bar "unaccompanied" bit, packed up and went the hell home.

Shit. I really WANTED to play that whole damned tune.  :argh:

Hey, that fool set himself up for it by bragging out "whipping" someone in some kind of singing contest. Sorry, two midgets having a slam dunk contest really isn't a slam dunk contest if ya know what I mean.

I "think" this is what happens with liberals? Someone tells them, "oh, you're awesome!" when they really aren't in an attempt to make them "feel good" about themselves. You do NO service to those people. No, you set them up for embarrassment and a youtube video.
