I think the meaning of "crunchy" changes on a daily basis, (much like the game of liberal poker, where what-trumps-what changes on the hour).
She once referred to a story as "crunchy candy," by which I supposed she meant it was enjoyable, i.e. superficial fluff. Then she used "crunchy" to mean (I think), "something you'd better pay attention to, substantial." So, I'm no more clear than when I started.
