This Is A Real Man, Should Be A Nationwide Classroom Example
« on: December 09, 2011, 03:31:27 AM »
His name is Jacob Emmett. He is among America's greatest heroes but you will not hear his name on the national news. Apart from his buddies in the 1st Bn 2nd Marines in Helmand Afghanistan and his family back home very few people will ever hear of his selfless exploits on the battlefield.

In my humble opinion the "medics" as they are known in the Army, and as Hollywood depicts ALL military medical persons despite their distinctions deserve our greatest admiration and recognition for all that they do.

The Marines do not have their own "medics", being part of the U.S. Navy they rely on the United States Navy Hospital Corps personnel who serve with them and are known as "Corpsmen" or more affectionately by their fellow Marines as "Doc", no matter what their rank is. They are loved beyond the definition of love.

Marines have a reputation well deserved of going in harm's way and getting the job done while paying an horrific price to accomplish that end. Behind this well known history is the stoic and unsung record of the sacrifices and valor of "Doc", the guy the Marine who just got shot cries out for, "Corpsman up!"

Jacob Emmett is one of those proud few. He truly is the epitome of America's best. When the "toughest" are shot up and hunkered down with wounded and incoming it is "Doc" who comes to their aid no matter how thick the air is with bullets and time and again eschewing cover and personal safety to render aid to the fallen.

They have earned several Medals Of Honor over the years and most of those posthumously but likely many many more were earned and never awarded. So as the media and the leftists ignore this war we are in and downplay the significance of it all I would like to point out just one example, one among many, that deserves to be known.

He already has the Purple Heart and here he receives the Silver Star Medal.

There is no shame in awarding our heroes their just laurels.
