The "...this web site is not affiliated with the Democratic Party" disclaimer is gone in DU3.
On the "About Us" page, there is no longer a statement that DU is not affliated with the Democratic Party.
It's a big campfire, the primitives all upset and bent out of shape.

31. Clarifying. I agree that we need to know.
It would not surprise me to hear that the Democratic Party has bought into this site, particularly given the changes we are seeing now.

15. If DU is indeed officially affiliated, we should be told openly --
It's only right and fair that posters and donors here know what they are involved with.

28. Agree on this, too.
Someone in another thread compared it to a washing machine with too many buttons. I thought that was apt. And most of the buttons have to do with policing one another.

38. True -- and it seems to be modelled for someone's convenience... but not members' -- that's for sure!!
And, the taboo subjects continue to pile up!!

46. Speaking of the DLC and the Koch brothers,
Remember when Anonymous attacked Koch-related websites and DU went down for a day?
Surely a coincidence, right?
I bet the administrators will clear this up any time now...

72. I was referring specifically as to how . . .
Skinner may think of "working within the system" -- and of the left ....
Democratic Underground is an online community for politically liberal people who understand the importance of working within the system to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of political office. Teabaggers, Neo-cons, Dittoheads, Paulites, Freepers, Birthers, and right-wingers in general are not welcome here. Neither are certain extreme-fringe left-wingers, including advocates of violent political/social change, hard-line communists, terrorist-apologists, America-haters, kooks, crackpots, LaRouchies, and the like.
I'm not sure that Skinner doesn't think OWS may be comprised of "extreme fringe left-wingers,
America haters, kooks, and the like"-- ???

76. It's there this morning:
After more than a decade online, Democratic Underground still hosts the most active liberal discussion board on the Internet. We are an independent website funded by member subscriptions and advertising, and we have no affiliation with the Democratic Party.
I am more curious, and a little concerned, that the site no longer identifies as "left-wing." It is now "liberal," which so many dlc/centrist/"new" dem/3rd way NEO-LIBERALS use to describe themselves.
Hmmmm.
One wonders why the primitives are reluctant to be affiliated with the Democrat party.
It's a marriage made in heaven, two eminently compatible partners, the Democrat party and the primitives.
