NEW YORK—A right-wing, pro-Israel group called the Emergency Committee for Israel has released a commercial that portrays the ongoing protests against the cozy relationship between government and corporations as anti-Semitic.

The ad begins with a voice-over claiming that some political leaders are sympathetic to Occupy Wall Street, followed by sound bites in which Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, President Obama and commentator Eliot Spitzer make statements in support of protesters.

Viewers are then asked to consider what the protests are really about and shown clips in which supposed protesters connect Jews to the media and the financial industry and berate an elderly man wearing a yarmulke. Then the voice-over asks: “Why are our leaders turning a blind eye to anti-Semitic, anti-Israel attacks? Tell President Obama and ... Pelosi to stand up to the mob. Hate is not an American value.”

As the OWS movement becomes a threat to entrenched power, smear campaigns against it are sure to come from the political and media establishment. Fortunately, there are reporters at Liberty Plaza who can see through such efforts. As one of them, I can tell you that I have not witnessed any acts of anti-Semitism and that there is even a growing Jewish presence inside the park. .........(more)

Here is a free tip, a smear is when someone says something untrue about a person, or organization in order to try to make that person, or organization look bad. An example is when you claim the Tea Party is full of racists.
This is not a smear, there is a lot of people from OWS who hate the joooosssssss and don't mind telling everyone.

All movements have fringe on edges and if you try you will finfpd the one. Of course the you kippur service belies the charge.

Ohh so when it's a liberal movement, you can't judge the whole thing by the actions of some, yet when it was the Tea Party if there was even one bigot there, then the entire movement must be racist.

Can anyone around here say they have actually seen any such thing even merely mentioned until this piece?

I haven't seen the OWS people berate anyone except banksters and Wall Streetsters... they even tell cops that they love them.

This is pretty strange alrighty.
   
I have heard plenty of anti jooooooo comments, of course it was on hate radio so they must have made them up.  :whatever:

Though I think most will realize the OWS is not anti-Semitic, nor has any basis in anti-semitism. However, since it is anti-semitism, it will largely be ignored by the left and continued to be used by the right.

In other words just ignore those people who proudly tell us how much they hate joooossssss.

Hitler's Nazis spread propaganda against Jewish bankers stirring up fear that Jews were behind the spread of communism. If anyone would be on the side of Nazis it would be those attacking OWS. This is one of those cases of political projection, where Republicans take their worst quality and project it onto their enemies.

I'll still go with the "spoiled kids" tag on the OWS goobers.  Whether they are 20 or 60+, it just fits.  But there is definitely an anti-semitism theme being heard from the groups.  No denying that.  No good will come out of it.

IMHO, we have become a victim of our success. OWS is just a symptom of the disease. Idle hands are the devil's workshop and we have far to many now. Mostly in education, particularly college, and government....and of course the huge non-working segment of the USA.

The hippie crowd is no more anti-Semitic than the rest of the democrat party.

But I consider it anti-Semitic when you support people who openly call for the physical annihilation of Israelis,
and the elimination of Israel from the map.

Democrats just look at that as another way to oppose decency and civilization, which is their only consistent core principle.
