Dropping Like Flies - Another Terminal DUmmy
« on: October 12, 2011, 06:42:51 PM »
DUmmy Moniquenumber is just the latest in a long, long, long line of ailing DUmmies coming to the DUmp to troll for attention.

Not sure if I can post this here
The last time I posted at DU is when I broke my ankle at the end of July. I still wear the boot and hopefully not much longer. In the meantime, I had a very small stroke. I was in the hospital for a week after some PT. The boot is slowing me down because it is creating a balance problem and preventing from walking normally. Please say a prayer for me. My mental capacity is the same as before. My right leg just needs more strength.

Too bad about that mental capacity. If you depend on prayers from the DUmp, you're dead meat.
Belief in God disqualifies one from democrat party membership.

I still think this can all be traced back to Pammie Dawson bragging about her chemo and then winning DOTY.

8. Sending healing thoughts and energy to you
Get well soon

Ever since the freepers killed Andy, the DUmpmonkeys have been very reluctant to excrete white light.
Healing thoughts, vibes, energy, but nary a glimmer of white light.
It's as if they suspect it was the white light that did in the round, red homo, and not surgical complications from that dust bunny.

20. Broken ankles take forever to heal
Eight years later, mine still gives me fits when the weather is changing.

However, it heals to the point of holding you up, and that's all any of us really needs, right?

July?! Get out! DUmmy Warpy's ankle's been screwed up for eight years, and don't you forget it!

Of course, with her oxy habit, she never feels her ankle.

Wow!.  I'm 51 and broke my ankle riding my trail bike in mid August and am walking around with out my boot now. of course, I wanted to walk around and not sit in front of the TV/computer. To be honest, I was shocked at how a fairly minor mishap would have caused that kind of damage. Guess I ain't 36 anymore.

P.S. walking with a boot is bad but way better than a real cast (can shower, although would that matter to a DUmmy) and walk with out crutches.

Ankle injuries can take a long time to heal.  I had ankle surgery almost two years ago, and it still gets sore after I run.  It seems that a lot of scar tissue has built up in there.  Like any injury, the sooner you get it moving, assuming that you don't do further damage, the better the rehabilitation seems to be.

I was going to say, to be fair to the DUmmie, she had a stroke during her healing process too. I'm sure that slowed her return to normal considerably. Plus, if she had a stroke, the blood flow probably isn't what it should be to facilitate quick healing.

As a side note, there was a woman I was on one of my pregnancy lists with back in 2000. She had broken her ankle. 6 months out it still hadn't healed right and she ended up dying from a pulmonary embolism. The clot likely came from this ankle that seemed to reinjure before it could fully heal. She was only about 32:-( Sadly, one of the reasons she probably kept reinjuring it is that she was self-medicating for the pain in that foot. Her home was a wreck when they went in to get here with several alcohol containers littered about.  Her child was only about 18 months at the time--never know what became of them. Anyway, two points--ankle injuries can be very serious and you never know the underlying story/complications that could be hindering recovery.

As for healing, some injuries just suck azz. I tore my calf muscle last fall. It still twinges after about 45 minutes to an hour of working out. IT keeps me from really being able to push my cardio capacity anymore since that feeling scares the tar out of me and makes me back off a bit:-( It's still fresh in my mind how that felt when it went pop and like jukin I still can't figure how it went so easily with what I was doing at the time--the worst charlie horse ever for about 2 weeks straight and then aching off and on for a month or two. Like rose said, I think it's the scar tissue I start feeling now after working out hard for a while, but it still makes me a bit hesitant to do too much anymore.

Have you tried getting into the pool? I have horrible knees and can't run anymore so I took up swimming/water cardio and it worked out great.

How do you find the time to work out for 3 hours?  I mean, if I wanted to work out for three hours a day I could find the time because I am a SAHM with quite a bit of extra time. But then, I would really have to want to do it. :p

That was it, I wanted to do it. I enjoyed it and most of my social network is based either through my children's school or my girlfriends I know at the gym. Having friends there with you  is a huge motivator to go so it's a social hour in addition to a good workout :-)I'm wildly competative too so at some point I just kept pushing myself and my boundaries and it felt really good to break past the next one. At some point, when I was home, I just said, I want to do something more productive then what I had been doing. My 3 hours a day now are limited to 2 or 3 days a week now--I can't spare the time 5 or 6 days like I did before working. How I accomplish that is to wake up and do core on my work at home days, run or hit the heavy bag on my lunch, and then take 90  min-2 hours at night(the nights my ex has the kids). On lighter days, I usually just jump in for an hour class and some core work at home.

Just find something you like to do and racking up an hour or two extra is no problem. I started not only to lose weight, but to do something more productive and also when I was approaching 40 and my mother was diagnosed with early osteoporosis, I knew I needed to strengthen and tone things to support what was likely a hereditary brittle bone issue. As you know, I have autoimmune issues too and it's been helpful with that too. I feel better when I workout, much better! I wish we were close, I'd make you go with me :cheersmate: :-)

Although, I will need to hide your beauty so you don't outshine me :p :-) :lmao: :-*

Lots of DUmmies are filled with hate and anger, which is detrimental to one's health. Not only does it result in an increase in blood pressure that contributes to stroke and heart disease, but the elevated cortisol levels associated with stress and anger slow healing by suppressing the inflammatory response, which is a part of healing. So they already have a couple of strikes against them, as far as that goes.
