Scent of weed...
« on: September 27, 2011, 02:55:19 AM »
I should probably ask a DUmmie, but no thank you.

The past few weeks, I have been smelling this really nasty scent in our master bathroom.  It smells like a skunk.  I was thinking it was something to do with the plumbing.  We have never had this problem.  Then my husband mentioned smelling it last night and tonight.  Same scent.  He said he thought it was weed.  We live in an upstairs unit and we are guessing our neighbor below us (the one who sells prescription pills) is smoking weed in their master bathroom and it's coming up to our unit.  It doesn't smell like that any where else in our home.

It was really nasty tonight.  So bad that I had to spray what felt like a half a can of Febreeze.  That just made it smell like skunk scented flowers.  Now I have a headache.

If it's weed, would that scent go up and through our ventilation?  Does that make sense?  I'm not sure if it would be a neighbor beside us.  I am almost certain it's the druggie downstairs.  It is so gross.

I've never smelled skunk funk - but based on what I read about its makeup - it sounds more likely that they have a clanlab in there.

Or you've wiring problem or defective electronic device.

Unfortunately I've been around enough weed over the years to have an opinion.  It's probably pot.

I've even asked dopers if they realize it stinks like skunk and do they think the devil laughs because he has gotten people that God loves intentionally inhaling that s*#$?    They tell me I don't understand, and they're right about that.    It saddens me.

It upsets me because we have our daughter here.  And we have her training toilet in our bathroom and she also bathes in the master bathroom too.  It's just a bigger room and easier for us.  My neighbors (whoever it is) piss me off.  If you want to be an idiot and smoke weed, fine, but do it elsewhere.

Drill a hole and squirt patchouli down there! I don't know why?
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

That's weed. Tell him to shut his f'n window or you're calling the landlord. If he tells you to go to hell, call the cops. That should shut his ass up.

Yup.  There's only one thing that smells like weed, and that's weed.

We called the landlord and she sent a letter to everyone in our building.  The letter was real basic.  Stating people have complained about an odd scent.  She is going to have security monitor our building more frequently and if there are any other complaints, they will be forwarded to Metro.

There are no windows in our bathroom.  Their unit is almost always closed up and A/C running all year round.  If it is the guy downstairs, he lives with his mom.

Honestly, I think the landlord should do an inspection.  It won't be hard to find the culprit.  I don't think that scent will just disappear within 24 hours in the unit where the drugs are being used.  But then again, I don't do drugs and don't know how long that scent sticks around.  It makes our unit smell horrible for a couple of hours.

We called the narcotics line at Metro, but they won't come out unless he is selling the drugs.  Since he is inside his unit, they consider it "personal" use and pretty much don't care.  And our landlord said the most she can do right now is send out the letter we got yesterday.  She could proceed to something else after a police report is made, but the police won't do anything unless he's smoking weed outside or sells it.  So.... we're pretty much stuck.

Our landlord did say we could transfer units though.  As much as a freaking headache and inconvenience that is, that's what we will be doing.  His little lit up session last night ended up having the smell come into our living room.  If it was just my husband & myself, I would just deal with it, but we have our daughter here.  The last thing I want her smelling is that junk.

We are meeting with the landlord around 5:15pm tonight to see what they can do for us and what units are currently available for a move in date of ASAP.

The last two nights we haven't smelled anything, but he might have run out of weed.  The complex manager is trying to stiff us with the $350 transfer fee if the weed smoking continues, which I think is ridiculous.  Hopefully the guy just quits smoking weed and we can continue to live peacefully in our home.

He's not going to quit, he's waiting for payday or his supplier.  I can't believe there's "nothing they can do."  If it was cigarette smoke, it'd be on national news!  That dude is denying you "peacable use" (a universal renter's right) of your unit.  The $350 should absolutely be waived, I can't believe they're even trying that.

My best friend is a lawyer in the state of Wisconsin.  She was telling me who to speak to if the apartment manager still refuses to waive that fee if the pot smoking continues.  It is the weekend, so I am sure he will probably grab some more weed.  The neighbor doesn't work.  Probably just waiting to scrape up enough money to get a dime bag.
