As someone who has lost a considerable amount of weight and dedicated myself to a different lifestyle, I can tell you that some of you are full of baloney. Just watch a few episodes through different seasons of the biggest loser. Many, many, many of those people have underlying emotional issues that need to be dealt with to make their weight loss and maintanence a continued success. The problem that happens many times is that eating is a coping strategy for some people and obviously if you use that to cope, you are going to overeat. If you couple that with depression, you are going to be lethargic and sit on your duff and do nothing to be active. It's a very obvious(as in you wear it in an obvious way) unhealthy coping mechanism. I give kudos to anyone who has done it, especially without extreme diets, surgery, or quick fixes. It's hard work--I know first hand. So is maintaining it, even more the older you get and you start working against middle age metabolism.
Either way, the fork won't stay down unless you deal with the issues that compel you to pick it up excessively in the first place. And it doesn't deserve victimhood, just a bit of understanding, especially if the person is trying to overcome that hurdle and get themselves healthy.
the thing that's always concerned me about the LV Leviathan for example is he still makes excuses and hasn't accepted that he has underlying shit that needs addressed and I'm not talking his putrid sores either. Ridicule and excuses both come from the same place of just not getting it. Just my experience folks.
