1. Catching up with the prices in California?
From reasons I can't fathom, a lot of produce grown in California is cheaper on the other side of the country than it is here.
Wonder if that has anything to do with the licensing, inspections, certifications, labelling, recycling, taxing, health regulations, union requirements, building codes, signage regulations, pollution controls, reporting and recordkeeping requirements, and other helpful support from the People's Republic of California?
Probably not, since factoring those costs into the retail price would be an act of greed not permitted in the PRC.
