5. Beets! Horrible, smelly, vomit inducing beets!

Can't stand the things, they're truly the worst "edible" (and I use the word very, very lightly) plant on the face of the earth.

Yummy!

Proper noun Beets must be better than just regular, plain old beets.

I could actually eat a whole meal without having to pick nasty, sulfurous little pieces of onion out of my food.

65. This post makes me glad that there are no magic wands.

I've never met a veggie that I didn't like. Ever.

Except kale. Which isn't really bad, but is just sort of strange. I wouldn't banish it though. The Republicans have to eat SOMETHING after I use the wand to banish them all to that desert island!

Yeah, you didn't think you'd get through the whole thread without seeing that word once, did you?

I have to agree with this idiot.  I am happy with all of the vegetables that I have come across, properly prepared. For example; uncooked green peppers always gives me heartburn, but I love them when they are presented in a cooked dish.

I agree with this DUmmie, too.  I may not care for some of them, persay, but they could be made a lot worse than what they already are.

I love pickles, but I prefer not to eat them in their natural form, the cucumber.  My mother and sister ruined this for me, when they used to put raw sliced cucumbers in a bowl with goat's milk.   :puke:

My Grandmother used to make a salad out of cucumbers, onions and tomatoes, with a vinegar tang to it that just defies description.  Definitely one of my best childhood memories.

I won't eat raw tomatoes, but I love tomato sauce.  I dislike bell peppers, but  in small amounts they work well as seasoning.  I agree that it is all in the preparation.

I love asparagus, broccoli, okra (especially fried okra that my grandma makes), and onions.  Poor DUmmies, never happy.

I don't understand people who hate onions.  It's such a staple of cooking!

Peas are the spawn of the devil, and I won't allow them in the house.  Brussel sprouts I cannot get down my throat, and lima beans won't get near my mouth.

Same here, the dressing was a little vinegar, water, and a little sugar.

In the North, the tomato is a fruit - served with sugar. In the South, it's a vegetable - served with salt and pepper.

But if you ever eat one, you will die.

All vegetables are good except beets...and the worst thing of all, okra.

Okra is only tolerable as a few tiny, tiny specks in gumbo. You have to have some little trace of okra for it to be official gumbo.
If there's enough okra to actually taste, it ruins the dish.

Not me, the texture of lima beans makes me gag and I can't stand the smell of beets. Ick!

One of my most favorite and simple salads...or just use Italian dressing.  If you have a few cubes of cheese, that works as well.

But there are some vegetables I have definite preferences towards.  Fresh green beans I'll eat just fine.  Canned or frozen?  Won't even touch them.  I'll eat beets, but I'm not big on them.

I like most of the veggies I eat to be raw or cooked and left crisp.  I like the taste of spinach raw, but can only handle a little bit of cooked spinach as flavoring.

Lima beans are vegetables?

Lima beans are vegetables?

They may be considered "torture implements" under certain readings of the Geneva Conventions . . .

I have problems with eggplant.  I'm 1/4 Italian, and I really can't stomach them.  My wife's latest attempt at serving eggplant parm, however, had about double her normal amount of sauce, and triple her normal amount of mozzarella.  They stayed down with a minimal effort.

An example of the usual primitive way of thinking.

"I don't like it, so therefore it shouldn't exist."

I have a rather, uh, picky palate, but not for a minute would I ever advocate abolishing onions or beans or peppers or mushrooms or even fish.

Just because I personally don't like them, doesn't mean other people don't, too.

But the primitives, "I don't like it, so therefore it shouldn't exist."
