I didn't either until a week ago.  I guess the Verizon employees are on strike because they will have to contribute to their own health care.  ::)

I think they wanted a bit of an extended summer vacay like Obie.  Appears the strike is over ( also known as  reality set in ).  I can see it now, walking the picket line with a bluetooth!  Ring, ring, whatcha mean no one knows we're on strike?? Ok sweetie, got to hang up now, looks like your mom is trying to get through.

Quote
NEW YORK (Reuters) – About 45,000 Verizon Communications employees are set end a two-week strike and return to work by Tuesday after the telephone company and unions said they reached an agreement to resume bargaining.

It's over. Good. No one out side of hard core union bots supported this crap anyway. There is not much support in the public for unions these days. Hell most of the strikers probably didn't want to play chicken with Verizon to begin with but didn't want to put up with tugs bullying them at work either. Besides, if they dragged this out too much longer Verizon would have had no problem hiring new workers in this economy. I was about to send them my resume.

I hope it counted against their vacation time.

Oh great, harass some low-wage call center stiff. What's next, calling up the local convenience store and asking them if they have Prince Albert in a can?

These genius-IQ DUers, I tell ya, they're a laff riot. I can almost hear Butthead laughing in the background.

Uhh-huh-huh...uh-huh...uh-huh-huh...

I wish my negative attitude co-workers would go on strike.  I'd love to cross that picket line.  :)

Poor girl at the call center has to deal with a nut. Call center jobs can't be much fun to begin with.  Having to handle angry customers all the time, hoping the next time they have to help someone, the person on the other end is at least civil.

I'm glad she ended the discussion.
