They have been best friends and shared a bedroom for years and now some people are hoping Bert and Ernie will tie the knot. But, that is not likely going to happen.

An online campaign started by Chicago resident Lair Scott on Change.org is pressuring the Sesame Street Workshop to "Let Bert & Ernie get married on Sesame Street."

"We are not asking Sesame Street to do anything crude or disrespectful," reads the petition. "Let us teach tolerance of those that are different."

However, Sesame Street Workshop may not go ahead with the idea because the characters that were developed about 40 years ago aren't gay.

You know, I agree with you on this one Vesta. Seems to be that sex is all homosexuals are about considering they see every close same sex relationship as some type of romantic relationship and that perverse perception has started to taint normal people to look for the same thing in otherwise normal, healthy friendships. I have a best friend that I've known since we were 13...it has always, jokingly, been our assertion that when we are old biddies and our husbands or significant others have passed(if they do before us) that we would just get a house with a porch together and a couple of rocking chairs. There is no illusion that we are having some kind of sexual or romantic relationship, just a (half joking) nod to the fact that in the end, at least we have our friends and will be companions in the same way we were when we were younger. Hell, the same best friend's family helped me out when I needed a place to live as a teen/young adult...I slept in my friends room in her gigantic waterbed with her...anytime I visited before we were married/had kids, I did what a lot of best girl friends do and slept in her bed or her in mine where we'd giggle and laugh and joke the night away until we passed out asleep. Homosexuals try to sully the beautiful world of same sex friendships up with their perverse view on life. It's sickening.

This is exactly their position.  They've even gone through the Bible and decided that the love David had for Jonathan and the love Jesus had (has) for John actually meant they were gay and in a sexual relationship.  Sex = love, love = sex.  I have wondered how on earth people with this belief relate to parents, children, siblings and friends.   :o

Interesting that you mention David and Johnathan,  2 men that had friendship that goes beyond sexual love, this is one heck of a story.

Come into today's society Mrs Smith, do you or husband have long time friends that you love, care for and  will sacrifice for ????   

We have people that will show scorn to friends who love and care about each other and suggest there is Sex going on.

These people to my thinking have never had Love without sex, never felt love or caring from another just for who they are.

SAD, they get to the point that Love has to be about sex, and they fall in and out of love every month or so. Looking for love that they equate with sex and totally ignore those that could care and perhaps love them with NO sex.

We today face monsters that most of us over 40 never knew.     They are just around the corner or living in parents basement.     These Monsters have allways been here, leaking and waiting.

The PC has opened the door to these Monsters, and the surprise of the number of them is a heart break for their family's and friends.

Problem is all the Monsters that get educated and move up into politics, teaching positrons, and Police force.
Married with a few children,  salt of the earth to their towns.

Human nature MRS. Smith, what to do, nothing except try to explain to your children what is going on.

All we can do is to warn the children of the people they may meet, get into the crazy stuff they may meet as they walk down the road to Adulthood.     

Parents that are themselves into kinky shit,  say a prayer for the kids, nothing is going to help them.

They do the same distortion with trying to project homosexuality onto historical figures like Lincoln all the time, misapplying contemporary behavior onto times and cultures where the meanings of the behaviors were entirely different.

Whatever happened to  childhood innocence?? Why do we have to throw adult situations at 2/3 year olds?? Sesame  Street was designed to teach numbers, letters, colors and shapes, even a little Spanish along the way....
