Wow, I don't know how you have the courage to leave your house with the risk of the sky falling so prevalent in your world.
I read the text of this bill, and sorry I must have missed the part where vitamins will require an Rx from a doctor (because it's not in there).
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s112-1310The vitamin industry is one that honestly has been scamming consumers for far too long as they have no oversight whatsoever. I am sure the high quality manufacturers (Kirkman's and the like) welcome this oversight by the FDA, as they go great lengths to manufacture a high quality product.
The truth is you pick up a bottle of melatonin which states it contains 3 mg of melatonin per pill, and test the pills inside (UCLA actually did this). One pill may contain absolutely no melatonin, while another may have 5 or 6 mg in it. That is very dangerous. As the FDA does not regulate vitamins, the manufacturer has no incentive to produce a high quality product, other than reputation, which you see in very expensive, high end vitamins (the ones you would find at Whole Foods and holistic shops). The CVS and Walmart generic brand? yeah stay away from them.
Boston Children's Hospital warned me about vitamins for my children. I only buy Kirkmans and even then there are no guarantees that the pill contains what it is suppose to contain. I am not exactly upset over this legislation.
