What's the chance of lawsuits?
« on: August 05, 2011, 07:07:58 PM »

Three women were shoplifting at WAL-MART(?). One loss prevention officer caught and held one of them. The other two ran and a loss prevention officer chased them a good distance. They entered a flooded creek in an attempt to escape him. He was able to swim out of the swift water, they weren't. They're still searching for the body of one of the women. They were able to locate the other body because she was wearing an ankle braclet.

I bet they are several lawyers standingby to "console" the families.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Good, because I'm pretty sure they are not allowed to chase the scum off the property. Some stores they are not allowed to chase outside the building.

Suing and winning are two different things.  High chance of them suing, but very little chance of them winning outside the Northeast Corridor or Californistan.  Limitations on how far someone is supposed to pursue a thief would be purely a matter of store policy in almost all of the US, not an actual legal limitation.  The ambulance chasers would claim that the violation of such a policy (If one is in effect there) amounted to negligence, but there are several possible defenses to that.

a flooded creek

blame global warming climate change for the drownings. use carbon credits to pay the families.
