Law is passed to respect the disabled (Slick Perry)
« on: July 25, 2011, 11:23:29 PM »
State Rep. Richard Peña Raymond joined Gov. Rick Perry to sign this legislation that will force state officials to use respectful language when talking to people with brain disorders.

As president of the Human Services Committee in the House of Representatives, Raymond is experienced on matters relating to the rights of people with various disabilities.

Raymond was the author of the draft legislation with Republican Rep. Vicki Truitt, of the city of Keller. Under the new law, it is illegal in Texas to refer to these people as retarded or mentally ill and should call them only as people with disabilities, developmental disabilities or intellectual nature.

I guess we won't be able to call Gubner Goodhair a retard anymore on Texas soil.
