Hugo Chavez just made a televised speech to Venezuelans from Havana

In it he revealed that after a successful operation to drain a pelvic abscess, Cuban doctors performed more tests and discovered a cancerous tumor. That was completely removed, he said.

That would explain why his medical stay in Cuba has been so extended. He appeared thinner and at times became emotional.

He signed off by saying "hasta el retorno," but he did not say when that would be.
