Went shopping today because I ran out of a couple of things and my eyes were burning from the prices
And something hit me. I remember just a few months ago a box of Post Golden Crisp weighed about 17 oz and sold for $2.89 at Target (because I bought a box, an old childhood friend that cereal was). Now the box weighs 14.75 Oz's and costs $2.99. An 8 pack of 12 oz. Pepsi in bottles was $2.79 every day, now $4.19.
If I want to buy a four pack from Amazon it will cost $7.63 plus shipping.
My wages aren't keeping up with food prices. Pretty soon it's going to be oatmeal for breakfast and rice for dinner, and I don't qualify for food stamps.

2. article I saw last week said food prices are up 36%
I guess that must be true.
But what about the price of pie? Is it still free for health and building code inspectors?

5. I've noticed prices as I go grocery shopping every two weeks. In fact, I have had a nice
discussion with my husband about the stress of trying to get enough groceries to last for two weeks when I still have the same amount to get the groceries and the cost of everything has gone up every time I go shopping. And i definitely pay attention. I have an ipod with a grocery list on it. And it stores prices. My salad dressing that was $2.48 went to $2.56 and then last week was $2.78. If it was just the one thing it would be one thing. But it is every thing on my list. And I don't buy name brand stuff. I shop at Aldi. Unless maybe something is on sale. It gets harder and harder.
We don't qualify for food stamps either. $200 too much. But I have WIC for my youngest which helps a little anyway. A couple gallons of milk, some eggs, cheese, peanut butter and cereal bread and fruits and vegetables. Helps for sure. Have you tried coupons? There are some coupon sites you can try that will even show you which coupons to use and where to get them. If I could find the time to sit and do it I would. I get the paper for the coupons. Just so hectic. If you want some links I'll post a few.
WIC? Welfare? High speed internet access would pay for a lot of milk and cereal every week. Unless you use nadin's canned milk.

11. This just makes me sick......
I'm retired....and I haven't had a COLA for the past 2 years...... I'm not going to make it........ my middle class status has been downgraded to the lower class.
Then get off that cable modem, and start using dialup free internet, DUmmy.

15. I've been wondering if no COLA is going to go into a third year. It's getting
damn hard to try to find some cost to cut when all costs keep going up.

12. "My wages aren't keeping up with food prices"
they haven't for quite some time
All this whining sounds so much like 1977-1980, when we had the most incompetent President in American history.
All we need now is for the jug-eared muslim to go on TV this winter in a sweater, and blame his incompetence on our "malaise".
