What would it take fro Democratic Underground to change its name, and become Liberal Underground?

Is it enough just to be a Democrat anymore? When traditional Democratic issues get set aside for Republican-lite policies, when folks who put a (D) next to their name today promote same/similar policies to those who had an (R) next to their name 30 years ago, then the Democratic brand has become dilluted to the point where it may be unable or unwilling to represent what many (most?) would consider leftward policies.

So what would it take? What line would the party have to cross before DU became LU?

1. Democratic Underground will not become Liberal Underground.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of people using this site to try to justify abandoning of the only viable liberal party in the U.S.

This is a two-party system. Each party is a coalition of people holding a wide variety of viewpoints. The Democrats are the more liberal of the two parties, and it is the obvious place for politically liberal people who want to actually participate in politics.

2. Yeah, I get that. Let me rephrase...

In your opinion, is it more important to belong to the Democratic party, or to be a liberal? I'm not even saying that such as a choice is required at this stage in the game. I'm curious to hear you speculate out...

Here's what's important: Don't let the bad guys win.

Who holds office matters. More Democrats in office means more liberal policies. More Republicans in office means more conservative policies.

You go, Skins; franksolich is tired of it on his side too.

Of course, on franksolich's side, better a RINO than a "conservative" Democrat.

Actually Regressive Underground would be a better name because real Liberals are for things like free speech whereas at DU from what we see daily? they suppress speech they don't agree with.
