One of my posts got locked. My purpose, while not to be a lightning rod, was to rant against the lack of substantive progress in health care and other areas in the US. I was also ranting against those who either actively of passively support the death of americans.

During this discussion I admitted to having feelings for suicide. This is normal for the amount of pain I am in. In no way did I intimate that I was actually suicidal... I explained the changes in brain chemistry that the chronically ill suffer.

I wonder - does the fact that my post was locked mean that the mentally ill, even the temporarily or situationally mentally ill have no voice on DU. Are we just another "locked" voice? Have any other chronically ill people met the same fate? Or is it just me?

New thread that won't end well.  I'm sure this was a rhetorical question since we know most of the members at DU are mentally ill in some way or another.

We don't have single payer or universal health insurance, we are letting medicare be destroyed, supply side economics are the rule of the day, torturers are given medals, we run multiple wars of aggression, public education is under attack, unions are being broken, the middle class/working class is being destroyed, the media is a joke, corruption is rampant, scandals abound.

And we sit back and do nothing. This is a nation of quizlings at best. At worst we actively help the corporations torture, maim, kill and cheer while it happens. The USA has no heart and no soul and deserves to die. And I honestly hope that every person who aided and abetted or stood back and watched it happen get whats coming to them too. Just like the quizlings.

As I'm sure that you guys know that toll-free number is the suicide hotline. I have no problem with the suicide hotline. I think it is a good thing. I think it's good that the mods on DU have it handy which is the point of my post.

All of us here have probably gone through bad times, sad times, tough times, etc. I know that since the dems began their destruction of the economy I've went from pissed off and stress out to what would probably be considered clinically depressed and back again. Yet the mods here have never had to whip out the toll-free number for me. I don't remember it being whipped out for anyone else. Maybe it's just me but I find it a little strange that a political message board has to have that particular toll-free number at hand. Am I wrong?

I didn't know what the number was.  Too bad that Sarah Palin or Karl Rove doesn't have an 800 number that the DUmmies could be given.  :whistling:

Very much so and I knew posting this that I would be stepping on many toes of the american exceptionalists. Knee jerking abounds.

FYI - I have fought everyday for everyone I could so that they get the care they need. And I am finally going broke doing it. Our medical clinic, which does great work at very low prices is on the edge financially. I haven't even taken a salary for 3 years because to do so would mean that others would go without.

And I am so tired. No one seems to get it and when they do for those brief seconds before they start talking about American Idol again, they don't do a damn thing. Call me a complainer or whatever, but I know the shit I've been wading in for year, that shit we call health care in this country. It snared me a few years ago and I just can't go on. People are ****ing dying and no one, based on actions, gives a flying ****.

It's a joke or a reason to marginalize the person saying it. Even here, on supposedly liberal and compassionate DU. It's all a ****ing joke.

A true DUmmy.
