I assume that, even though Christianity is not mentioned by name, cali is making a backhanded slam at Christianity. I like how she tried to put herself above it all. All in all it really is a very subtle slam which is unusual for a place like DU and for a poster like cali. It does have a nice touch of condescension. Like she's saying that her and her ilk (like her fellow DUers) are more grounded in fact and reality than those crazy religious people that believe in their imagined religions.
She could be right. DUers may indeed be more grounded in reality. I don't know. Wait a minute…what is that smell?
Bluestar: Probably a Spirit Guide
I have a guide who smells like cigarette smoke. Not very pleasant, but I know when he's trying to tell me something. It won't go away until I go into meditation and ask what the message is.
On the other side of the coin, Divine Mother sometimes comes with a lovely smell of roses--it's especially strong (and lovely) when a friend of mine and I are doing spiritual work together.
I think you have a new guide (or an old one who is giving you new signals) who is trying to get your attention in some way. I know from reading your posts you are very intuitive. I would just go in and ask. It could be very interesting. linky-dinkFlippyDoo: A spirit guide? Surely you are mistaken. Why would I, a fictional spirit-guide, be smelling a spirit guide?
Floogeldy: You might be astral projecting, You don't know how to use your astral body, yet. Stop trying to walk with your legs, rather, "think" walking and walk with your spirit's will. linky-dinkFlippyDoo: Astral projecting? Projecting where?
Popol Vuh: Visiting the Astral Plane can change your whole view of life. You can travel and have a bit of experience here and there but it's a huge waste to treat it superficially or like a hobby. It's far better to have the aim to do something fundamentally worthwhile, which is to discover what is really going on in this life and to receive spiritual knowledge and to walk the path to enlightenment.
With this in mind, in the Astral you can meet and receive teachings from spiritual beings - those who have founded or have been mentioned in the world's great religions, in mythology or in esotericism. You can discover secret knowledge, learn about yourself and see where your spiritual obstacles and your inner defects are. You can monitor your spiritual progress and can walk along the spiritual path knowing each step that you have made, learn hidden wisdom about death, the process of awakening, get premonitions of the future, receive guidance, discover the purpose of life, discover what happens after death and much more.
Just by being in the Astral you can get access to incredible knowledge that is denied the majority of people in the world who do not go there 'consciously'. The Astral is the first of two planes of the fifth dimension; it is a complete dimension of life, waiting to be explored. It is the place where dreams occur, where mystical teachings are given and where the deceased go. It is possible to go there consciously, leaving the physical body behind in the three dimensional world. It is something real. It is not a figment of the imagination, but another place that exists, and with proper techniques and practice, you can prove it.linky-dinkFlippyDoo; I'm pretty sure that I have not done any projecting, but it doesn't matter. I just know that I really don't want another spirit guide around here. This is my gig, and I kind of like it. So what do I do?
freshwest: Burn some sage while walking around inside the house, is what I've been told to do. linky-dink
KurtNYC: I recommend smudging. It is a ritual for cleansing, purifying and protecting the physical and spiritual bodies. The effect of the smoke is to banish negative energies. linky-dinkFlippyDoo: Smudging?
Mabus: Smudging is like a cleansing smoke bath.linky-dink
FlippyDoo: And it works?
BlueIris: What a difference a smudging makes. linky-dinkFlippyDoo: Anything else?
Jackpine Radical: Smudging and drumming. linky-dinkFlippyDoo: Okay. I'll give this a try. I'm sure glad you DU folks who are grounded in fact and reality instead of imagine were around to help me out. If I would have talked to one of those "imaginative" religious people they would have probably just prayed for me or something.
